Known locally as basilica of St Jakob. Open door church with an amazing interior, but even with no parishioners they don't allow pictures. Considering how many poor people gave their money to the church that doesn't seem nice. Phooey! (I got a picture anyway!). Yes, it has a mummified hand but it's hard to see.

I had to visit to see the mummified arm that hangs in the church. Legend says the arm is from a jewel thief who tried to steal from the high altar, which has a statue of the Virgin Mary. It is believed that when the thief tried to steal the jewels, Mary grabbed his arm and would not let go,... More

This beautiful church is in the heart of old town is one the places you shouldn't miss.Church's acoustics are great so there are many concerts held here. It has remarkable history. It also has a arm of jewel thief as a warning for other thieves.

St. James is considered the most beautiful church in Prague. There is a mummified hand of a thief hanging above the door.

Beautiful sculpture, but not as grand as St Nicholas church. The most interesting story about this church is the 400+ old hand, which we are unable to find in the church, quite disappointed about it.

Another church that does not look like much from outside but is beautiful inside. It was located right by our hotel and only on day two I saw it was a church when I went to look inside the door. It turned out to be a great "smaller" church.

this is a truly beautiful interior. Personally I love over decoration but it may not be for the more subtle taste. Beautiful handiwork everywhere celebrating the craftsmen rather than the patrons. Well worth a visit.

This isn't my favortie church by any means. We were shocked at how elaborate the inside of the church is, and that may or may not appeal to you. The six-hundred year old severed arm comes with a story, but it not exactly a highlight. I found the church a bit dark and narrow for my taste. Still, if chruches... More

We were drawn to the building on our first day as we wandered around. We heard music coming from inside and were drawn in. The music and smoke from incense along with the beautiful interior really did take my breath away. Each time we visited I noticed something else. Definitely worth a visit.

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
