Prague Zoological Garden is situated near the center of the Czech capital, in a unique rugged landscape on the bank of the Vltava River. It opened in 1931 and during its existence of more than 80 years it has risen to become one of the most prestigious zoos in the world. Today, it is the second most visited tourist destination in the Czech Republic, just after Prague Castle. 4,600 animals and 680 species live in Prague Zoo. You can explore 12 pavilions and 150 exhibits over 58 hectares. The kids will love the Bororo Reserve, chairlift, mini-train, observation tower, paddling pool and Children’s Zoo. The pride of the zoo is its Elephant Valley, home to a sizeable herd of Asian elephants. The Giant Salamander House, where you can see the largest amphibians in the world – the critically endangered Chinese Giant Salamanders – is extraordinary as well; and the African House with an adjacent vast meadow inhabited by herds of antelopes and giraffes is worth your attention, too. However, Prague Zoo also has other interesting places: for instance, the Pavilion of Gorillas with the only breeding family of gorillas in the Czech Republic; Chambal, presenting one of the most endangered species of crocodiles in the world – gharials; or the Indonesian Jungle Pavilion, a giant greenhouse presenting a sample of the South Asian rainforest and its inhabitants.

This zoo is huge and there is so much to see. For the little ones there are playgrounds and a little train. On a hot day it's perfect to come here. You can spend someday walking around outside and go inside one of the houses...More

This was a pleasant surprise. We had a family of all ages and all had a great time. This is a very large zoo with a wide selection of animals. Food and drink is very reasonable as well and good.

This is a very large, attractive zoo. We spent 6 hours and didn't see it all. Lots of trees and nice playgrounds for kids. Several spots for buying food. Most of the animals are in large areas to roam - not in small, inhumane cages.

It's clear to see why this zoo was voted one of the best in the world. I'm a big fan of zoos and animals in general, and Prague Zoo had animals I'd never even heard of before - including some extremely rare and endangered species....More

No. You view the zebras in their enclosure via a raised walkway so you will be looking down at them. But there is a exhibit in the zoo where you can pet farm animals.

Taxis are a bit of a question mark in Prague. AAA-taxi.cz gives taxi fair estimations. They are one of the registered taxi companies. There is also Uber in Prague.
