The most significant square of historical Prague, it was founded in the 12th century and has been witness to many historical events. In addition to the Old Town Hall and the Church of Our Lady before Týn, the square is dominated by the Baroque Church of St Nicholas, the Rococo Kinský Palace, the Gothic House at the Stone Bell and the monument to Jan Hus. In the pavement of the square are memorial stones marking the execution of 27 Czech lords in 1621, and the Prague meridian.

Standing in the middle and turning through 360 degrees you can go through 900 years! The clock needs to be explained to you though - don't just stand and look at it. There's a lot more to it!.

Picturesque place. A whole lotta people walking around. Take a walking tour. Make sure you have an extra battery for your camera. PS: Please be wary of the surroundings & be extra extra careful with your belongings.

In my opinion this square is slightly over rated. There are too many people and the restaurants are more expensive. The clock is cool but if you've seen it once it will be enough. All and all I would defnitly schedule some time in my...More

Terrific restoration of important architecture. Pretty hard not to stroll through the square as you tour Old Town. Most walking tours begin here. Less impressive if you do not know the history.

What a wonderful place to spend an afternoon wandering around and learning about Prague. You can easily spend a few hours wandering around the square and nearby streets.

Stunning area. Buildings varied and stunning. Well maintained. Busy area with good restaurants inside and out. Enjoyed eating outside and watching the crowds go past. Must do this!

Start your day here! Sit down restaurants and kiosks provide many choices. Tour groups are selling their services here but not too obnoxious. Catch a horse drawn carriage ride or take a tour in an old fashioned auto. The clock is very interesting.

One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents
the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is
bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický
square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle
in the background, is probably the most beautiful
square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere
of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and
squares, and stone towers blend together with the

Both cities have various walking tours available. Some are free others you would need to book. Your hotel would probably help you. We had a private guide in Prague and must admit she was excellent and worth it. A... More

My own philosophy is to never give up before you've tried. Prague is worth the visit and I know like most modern traveller friendly cities it has made strides in accommodating citizens who may be wheelchair bound such as... More
