We happened to arrived in Old Town Square just before the annual lighting of the enormous Christmas tree that will adorn the plaza for the next month. The square was packed to capacity with tourists and locals who came out to watch. Live music and performances were ongoing in one corner. Rows of tents and booths were set up with... More

Surrounded by churches and restaurants, cafes and shops, galleries and street performers...street food and drink. Don't miss the Astronomical Clock. The colorful array of various historic buildings makes for great photos.

This location is especially nice in late November when the Christmas trees, decorations, and outdoor stands start popping up. Old Town is absolutely a must see when visiting Prague.

In the Czech Republic, the most famous market is held in Old Town Square in Prague, a plaza that has remained virtually untouched since the 10th century. Shoppers snack on a braided pastry with raisins, interesting.

Went in late Nov. Christmas market was wonderful. Search side streets nearby for great shops. Loved Manufaktura, they have several stores. All items are Czech made. Crowds gather around the astronomical clock before it chimes.

Very busy at this time of year , however I think it is also the best time to go ! The Christmas markets where being set up just as we where leaving which was a shame, but still very picturesque and the architecture of the buildings ..wow ! The clock tower also does something great on the hour every hour

This is one of the most attractive Squares in Prague. Architecturally there is so much to see and the stunning outside space is home to a variety of tourist attractions - from jazz bands to acrobats. We left just as the stalls were going up for Christmas. Always busy but so much to see.

We visited and stayed very near the Old Town Square in November 2016. The Christmas markets had just opened the weekend we were there and were very beautiful. The Tyn Church with it's deliberately non-symmetrical 'Adam & Eve' towers gloriously dominates the skyline and really is a sight to beyond - day or night. Eating in the square isn't cheap... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
