Swan Lake at The Hybernia

We saw an amateur production of Swan Lake at The Hybernia. The facilities are adequate and probably more suitable foe opera or concerts.

As part of our European holiday, my husband and I thought it would be a great idea to watch ballet in Prague. Hubby booked it without having checked TripAdvisor reviews first. Well, we were hugely disappointed to say the least! I wanted to leave after the first 15 minutes. The dancers didn't have any artistic flare and have zero acting... More

Beautiful theatre, staff very pleasant. Theatre was only about a third full. Couldn't understand the seating arrangements. Had the misfortune to be seated behind two nodding dogs throughout the whole performance which was excellent.

Prague is such an amazingly beautiful city I never expected the theater to be so shabby! My seat was broken and I had to move to another. Only about a quarter of the seats were filled, so I guess I can understand that the production seemed lackluster. I love to support the arts, so reluctantly write this mediocre review.

Don't believe all the bad reviews, booked the nutcracker ballet, was well aware there was no live orchestra but that didn't mean the music was not good enough, theatre was not Sadler wells standard and the dancers were not the bolshoi ballet but full marks as it was a sweet show with young dancers who all made sure they told... I thought watching some ballet of Sunday evening would be great thing to do in Prague. Cheepest ticket price was around 30e but I decided to treat my self and take "better ticket that was 50e. Once walked in to theatre disapintment started. First theatre looked very rundown and like there was no investment at all. I was seating in... More

Great performance from skilled dancers who are let down by a tired and soulless theatre with Pre-recorded orchestra. Better value to be had watching an opera at the beautiful National Theatre only ten minutes walk down the road and a magical venue.

Tourist trap central -- don't go here ever. I had the misfortune to take my partner and teenage daughter to this venue to watch the ballet Romeo & Juliet on Sat 7 Jan. It was their first time at ballet and part of their introduction to one of my favourite cities. It was a disgrace. The theatre is small, old... More

Not so terrible, as some reviews describe. OK, music not live, but good quality. It is art of popularisation of classics, good idea to bring people to know and like ballet.

Reading some of the other reviews you'd think this was a venue to avoid, but you should note a couple of things. The shows and cast vary and some will be stronger than others. The Nutcracker was excellent today, danced by a professional cast to the acclaim of an enthusiastic audience. Also note that you can avoid some dodgy surcharges... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
