About
The music club Jazz Republic has held concerts since 1997 pretty much without a break. Aside from providing a space for predominantly Czech musicians, the club management has also introduced the Prague audience to foreign artists representing multiple genres. A number of remembrances of these unforgettable concerts, signed posters and photographs decorate the club and form its unique atmosphere. It is mainly the concert dramaturgy, that determines the character of the Jazz Republic and is unique in Europe and probably even the whole world. We cooperate with approximately 30 top Czech jazz musicians, that as residential artists compose ad-hoc music formations performed at the Jazz Republic. Each concert is therefore special, because it will never repeat itself with the specific constitution and repertoire. This is our tribute to jazz music and its basic constructive process, musical improvisations.

Neighbourhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

A successful evening
Oct 2019
A jazz night seemed like a very pleasant way to spend time. We booked seats at Jazz Republic via the internet and chose a table very close to the stage. That's because that night we enjoyed live music. Privilege of the Blue was the band that played. The band's guitarist, Karel Barta, I understand he's quite famous in the Czech Republic.
The atmosphere was very pleasant, the drinks at the bar and the snakes had reasonable prices, the music was nice. All in all, a successful evening!

Jazz Night
Jan 2020 • Couples
We went on a Friday night and paid a small charge to enter (there’s a charge on the door for both Friday and Saturday nights for the first half if you want to view the show). Venue is quite small but cosy, drinks are reasonably priced and the music was great.

Great live music
Jan 2020 • Friends
On Saturday night, between dinner and the club, we were looking for a sit-down place with nice music and drinks. Jazz Republic was perfect for our needs.
We walked in - no entry charge - and found all the tables in the main concert area fully occupied. We went through to the bar area, which is quite small but did the job. The selection behind the bar was slight and basic. Service was very good and prices were very reasonable. We were lucky enough to get a table near the bar by the time we got our drinks. Note: while at the bar you can hear the music, but it's away from the main viewing area. It was also quite warm, which I would not complain about (it was -1°C outside).
The place has clearly seen its share of famous musicians, as I noticed photos and memorabilia of B. B. King and a few others on the walls.
The music stopped at around midnight and we left around quarter past.

Brilliant place

First time to visit a jazz bar and it did not disappoint. This was right next to our hotel and thought to try it out. We were there just after 8pm on a Friday night and were charged for entry. The drinks and snacks are reasonably priced too

Would recommend

Nice jazz music and atmosphere
Jan 2020 • Couples
We booked a table here and I’m glad we did . It was a Friday night and it got very busy with standing room only . The couple on the next table (who had booked too ) were asked to either move to a smaller table or expect someone to join there table if it got too busy ! I wouldn’t have been happy if they had said this to us but they didn’t anyway the music was great the beer cheap and it went on for a good couple hours worth going after a nice meal you can get some snacks there though eg nachos

Free entry and enjoyable
Jan 2020 • Couples
No entrance fee charged and its a nice relaxed atmosphere in which to sit back and enjoy the music and a drink. Good beer selection too. It is in the basement and there is a smoking room which mildly permeates throughout but, it transports me back a decade or so, so not entirely negative from my perspective

Hello, and welcome to Jazz Club....Nice.
Jan 2020 • Solo
Compact, cosy little club in the Old Town area. Atmospheric and intimate are other superlatives I could use.

Entry is free on weekdays. I'd advise that you book a table as the capacity is limited. You could end up standing or even in another room.

Seem to promote a variety of Czech jazzsters on a rotational basis. I saw Mayflowers on the night that I went. Pretty samey and safe in my opinion, but hey, one man's meat......

Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent and free!
Dec 2019 • Couples
We visited as the jazz dock was too expensive. It was FREE! The beer was cheap and there was excellent music. Very much a sit-and-listen-to-the-music kind of place, they ask people not to talk during the performances. The doors opened at 8 for a 9:15 performance, we arrived at 8:01 without a reservation and got seats. Would definitely recommend booking!
