Amazing church
Aug 2019
Especially in hot summer this place offers really cool environment. There is the largest fresco of Saint Christopher in Europe. On the outside wall of the church, look for the statue of a frog climbing up the wall - the legend says when it reaches the roof it will be the end of the world. Now there is a reconstruction of the fasade happening so you cannot see the frog, but you can still visit the monastery.

There is not too much to see in Ceske Budejovice, but this church is a must. It is simple, but you have a certain spiritual feeling, when you enter to the church.

Although today no monks reside in the monastery Holy Mass is celebrated on Wednesday and Sunday, May till October, the Church itself is open to the public (10-5 pm). Nice is the Baroque Hall on the north side of the Chapel and the southern adjacent monastery cloisters (ambulatorium) with "Paradise". Together with monastery and city built in 1265 under Premysl Otakar II, not completed until in 1300. Second half 17th century converted (sachristy added around the Chapel, which was already demolished in 1865). In the 14th century, the church was decorated with coloured frescoes depicting the lives of the saints.
