We finished off our family staycation with an impromptu visit to Lough Allen Adventure Centre in Drumshanbo, Leitrim. The weather all weekend was mixed and our planned SUP outing was cancelled on Saturday morning as it was too windy. We rang Lough Allen Adventure Centre on Sunday morning and they said they would fit us in no problem. We were 4 adults and 4 children. We opted for a mix of Stand Up Paddlebording #SUP and double Kayaks for the Drumshamazon tour in this way all abilities were accommodated for. It was brilliant craic. The 2 instructors were so kind and encouraging. We finished off the session with some pier jumping that left us all laughing and thrilled with ourselves. I can't recommend Lough Allen Adventure enough, value for money, great in all weather and for all the family. The staff made our day very special. Thank you all

We have just spent a fabulous weekend at Lough Allen campsite ( the weather was amazing, so that did help!) On Saturday, we hired a double canoe (2 rafted together ) for €60 from The Adventure Centre. There were 5 adults in our party., so a real bargain for 3 hours of fun on the water!
We rowed a fair distance out onto Lough Allen, found a little island, where we stopped for a swim and a picnic.
The whole weekend was just so relaxing and everyone very friendly.

We started a day with them by taking a kayak tour through the lock and down the river. It was quite exciting experience to go through the working lock and so peaceful down the river. Guide, Hughie, was brilliant and handled the whole group so well, making everyone feel comfortable on their chosen equipment (paddle board or kayak). Start was a bit rusty as there was a mixed up on other groups preferences and it took a good chunk of time to get right boards and kayaks to the water. Hughie did his best and we were happy to help him, but if this would have been communicated better, we would have had more time to enjoy the activity and the river. If you are around and looking for a nice fun activity, do not look further.
Second part of the day, we came back for relaxation. Five and plus stars for sauna with the view. I am sure hot tube was as good, but I just prefer a really good sauna instead. Hour flew by, absolutely loved the wood fire sauna and amazingly calming view it has to offer. If I would live any closer this would be my weekly activity. And a plunge pool is a nice touch.
These two activities combined together: perfection!

Absolutely appalling camping experience. Couldn't be worse. Save yourself the hell - book elsewhere. Absolutely no night security and no answer to any message sent to the phone number provided, resulting in a camp site where it's near impossible to sleep. Feels like staying at a festival. People up all night playing music, shouting etc. Toilets and showers were utterly filthy. The kitchen was even worse. Camping in a waterlogged, noisy, cramped swamp. Never again.

Fantastic experience with our guide, Emma! She was friendly and really made the activity accessible for all of us. Our youngest was 5 and able to go in a double kayak which he loved. I tried paddle boarding and had a great time! The Drumshamazon is beautiful and we really enjoyed a peaceful journey along it. Thank you for a great activity!

Big gang of us, family group, 8 adults, 9 kids booked in for the Drumshamazon kayak tour. We had a fantastic couple of hours. We were all beginners, aged from 8 to 53 but the lads looked after us really well. The scenery was beautiful, the whole experience of going through the sluice gate, up the canal, great craic start to finish. Kids were buzzing afterwards. I'd highly recommend it.

Along with my sister and a friend, we took ourselves along for this delicious wellness retreat where we were welcomed by Edwin on what was a particularly sunny day. First hour was given to a stretching but relaxing yoga session in their beautiful spacious yurt looking out to Lough Allen, refreshing fruit and cold drinks followed, then an hour to take time to relax in the sauna, take some dips into the ice cold plunge pool (that would have taken our breath away but for the careful guidance of Edwin and Tojo) leaving us tingling and ready for the hot tub, and back again to the sauna. We had the vegetarian option for lunch, healthy and delicious, in the outdoors and ended our day with a soothing sound bath meditation. Thoroughly recommend the day and a huge thank you to the staff there for the treatments and welcome.

Poorly run campsite with a plonk yourself wherever feel to it. Quite gravelly. Booked an electric pitch but ended up on the grass. It was that or be beside the bins. Felt over crowded too. Tents v close to each other. Dogs off leads, nobody picking up their poop. Cigarette butt's a common sight. Noisy at night. Random cars driving in and out blaring their music. Facilities weren't clean. Shower curtains badly stained. No mirrors or sockets. Had to search for soap. All in all quite run down. There were some positives. The setting is beautiful, having the lake beside you is great and its a lovely walk to the local village. Really enjoyed paddle boarding this morning. We met some lovely campers and locals. The area itself is very nice and worth exploring but I'd stay somewhere else. Wouldn't take much to improve this site. I hope they do as the area is lovely.

I stayed here in one of the rooms with my two kids for a week. It was fantastic!!! There is so much for the kids to do which gave me time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounds. The staff are all super friendly and eager to help in any way they can. I cant recomend it enough. I can honestly say it was the best holiday I can remember. A must for anyone visiting our lovely country or staycationers. Such a warm and friendly atmosphere coupled with unbeatable value for money.
