Beautiful museum, exhibit and gorgeous gardens. Take a break from Ubud's hustle to enjoy beautiful puppets and masks. Cafe with good coffee and fresh food.

I can't Mask my disappointment the House of Masks was about as interesting as watching paint dry ! Some interesting ones but when you have seen 100 you have seen them all ! The puppets much more interesting if they could have put on an extensive puppet show to entertain the children it would have been greatly appreciated by all... More

This museum is very comprehensive, having a collection of thousands of masks and puppets from all over the world but with a focus on Bali and other parts of Indonesia. There is not much by way of overall interpretation but labels for individual objects are quite informative and the very friendly staff will provide some basic context and answer questions.... More

I was so pleasantly surprised to find this museum to be of the highest calibre. There are six buildings housing an impressive collection of masks and shadow puppets. The gardens are beautiful and there is a little cafe as well. Admission is by donation. Highly recommended.

Set in a very quiet location the mask & puppet collections here are just wonderful. Housed in Javanese style jogolos this place has a great feeling & respect for cultural traditions. Not (yet) overrun by tourist buses & hawkers.

Crazy crafty comedy masks, traditional Papuan masks, and an Obama puppet. Excellent collection of traditional Indonesian and international masks and puppets. Collection gives insight in local craftsmanship and culture. Friendly and helpful tour guide. No entrance fee, but request for small donation. Loved it!

Set in six 'houses' in glorious grounds. It is a must to see. A surprise and delight - not busy or hurried even in August. Not to be missed! A holiday highlight for anyone enjoying a cultural/ arts input.

I included this museum on a day trip around Ubud with a driver. He had never been to this one before and was very impressed too. There are 5 traditional Bali houses that have been relocated and restored here in these beautiful gardens. One most impressive residence from a royal family member. Each houses an historic display of masks and/or... More
