This is a beautiful castle with an interesting history as it is the birthplace of German democracy. The views are spectacular and on a clear days you can see for many miles. The location is magnificent surrounded by many walking trails. One word of caution, it can be very busy.

We went to visit Hambacher Schloss (Hambach Castle) for on a Monday which was perfect. The castle is open everyday as far as I know, and it was very peaceful while my wife and I were there. The castle is pretty amazing considering its history, and the fact that Germany has done some amazing work on the castle (12 million... More

Nicely preserved castle with a nice story to go along with it. Also a pretty historical site. Has both English and German displays.

Hambacher schloss is a traditional historic sight. You have a gorgeous view across the country sight and can visit a great historic exhibition about democracy in Germany. Also in various languages. Also the restaurant serves great snacks. It's a must to visit one of the many traditional vineries in the neighbourhood. It's also a visit enjoyable for kids!

Neustadt is definitely worth the journey ... Hit the old town and look for the romantic statues of a German maiden and a noble man or visit the fun contraption from medieval times that ensured a proper wedding .. Hambacher Schloss rocks !!! President Regan even went to see it ... The history of Germany has it's roots right here... More

Let me first say I have a preference on castles that they be left in tact, furnished and as they once were. This is how I prefer to absorb the history and learn it. This particular castle is turned into a museum and is renovated which really turned me off. Also everything to read is in german, no english The... More

Great place for a walk in the woods and also for nice views of the vineyards below. The Schloss is in great shape and is well maintained Apparently there are some great concerts up there in the summer. There is a nice café there as well. You can sit on the terrace when the weather permits. Please enjoy.
