Triple J Tours have been offering one of the longest river cruises in Australia between Kununurra and the Ord Top Dam at Lake Argyle (a distance of 55km one way) for over 26 years.

Cruising on a section of the Ord River known as Lake Kununurra, Triple J Tours will have you admiring spectacular scenery, flora, bird life, crocodiles and flying foxes all from the comfort of one of their vessels aptly named ‘Peregrine’, ‘Harrier’ and ‘Osprey’. Fully shaded and with toilets on-board, these vessels cruise the river with ease and are ergonomically constructed so as to cause as little damage as possible to the river bank.

Touring options can include a 70km coach transfer Kununurra to Lake Argyle (or vice versa), a magnificent cruise, a tasty buffet lunch at a riverside camp and/or afternoon tea. A commentary is provided on not only the flora and fauna, but also on the nature and history of the mighty Ord River.

If you are in Kununarra you have to do this trip. We chose the water pickup, trip to the dam wall and return option rather than the bus pickup and boat trip return. Our captain was fantastic showing so much on our way to the dam where we would pick up a group on a bus tour for the return... More

In July 2016 we enjoyed the Triple J Ord River Day Tour from Kununurra. We chose the Sunset tour and were picked up by our coach driver Simon at 11.30 am. Our first stop was the historic Durack Homestead Museum. At this relocated original homestead of the Durack family we learnt all about these courageous pioneers of the Kimberley. The... More

Just travelled from Adelaide to Darwin to Broome and the best tour we did was the Triple J boat trip to Kununurra. The scenery was spectacular, the boat was travelling at a great pace (some boat trips through gorges were painfully slow). The commentary was very informative and interesting and the afternoon tea was excellent. The highlight of our trip... More

We were collected and taken on an excellent, informative boat trip from Lake Argyle down the 55km of the Ord River to Kununurra. Our wonderful boat driver pointed out all of the wild life, vegetation, geological information, dam walls etc as well as providIng a delicious afternoon tea before sunset. It was a covered but open sided boat so that,... More

Thank you for your review--it is a bit warm here at the mo (averaging 38 every day ) so out on that boat was definitely the place to be. Definitely an experience to remember for a long time. The high speed boat trip down the Ord river was both exhilarating and beautiful. We had booked the tour directly with Triple J and certainly paid full price while most people seem to travel through an organised tour. Anyway, highly recommended - if you are willing to spend the money.

Graeme took over as our guide for the afternoon boat ride up the Ord River. Also excellent. Great day! The day cost $315 each but this seems to be the going rate at The... More
