Down narrow country roads, you come to Urlaur Abbey. A real hidden gem on the banks of Urlaur Lough. The ruined abbey sits right beside the waters edge and is beautiful to explore with steps up to the roof which offer stunning views across the lake and surrounding rural countryside. There are some picnic tables and a small pier. Kids loved exploring the ruins and adults will love the calmness with gentle lapping of the water.

I have visited this abbey twice , both visits were very wet and parts were slippery. The abbey is erect in all its glory .I will come back again to this beauty spot. Bring some maltesers and just enjoy the surroundings.
