A lap or two of Lake HAyes is a great way to blow out the cobwebs, enjoy the views and take in some views. Approx 8 kms round it is well worth a walk or ride round, this is a shared track, bikes should have bells

There is plenty of walks to do in Arrowtown and this is just one of them. On a clear day the lake turns into a mirror and reflects the surrounding trees onto the lake. The pictures you can take are amazing. The walk depends on your speed; recommend is around 2-3hours for the loop, however we did it in around... More

Very easy and superbly scenic walk around the lake. It took us 3 hours mainly because of the photo opportunities. There are lots of access points to the lake and places to park. There is also an area on the shore for camper vans. Definitely a must if you want a beautiful relaxing walk. Take a picnic as there is... More

This walk takes you from open country, to the shadowy side and along the low flats where weeping willows sweep the ground. Lake Hayes is beautiful from any angle and you can take them all in from this walk - whether you're a keen photographer or just out for a power-walk in the alpine air. A decent length walk, but... Plums trees are fruiting near the start of the track, take a bag. The track 8s well maintained. We walked its length in 1.5hrs. Great opportunities for photos and plenty of rest stops.

Lake Hayes is my favourite lake amongst all the lakes around Queenstown. Its circuit is good for cycling and walking. We cycled the whole track and made lots of stops for photos, it's too beautiful! Saw lots of local residents too aka rabbits! pretty cute! The lake is also good for kayaking and canoeing as it's quite calm.

A lovely walk around a delightful lake, with good backdrops as well. If taken steadily would be about 2 hours, give or take, but we stopped a lot (as well as a 1 hour detour for coffee!!) so took about 4 hours. As walks go fairly flat

Bring some food for the ducks! Easy, well-surfaced path around the lake. Connects with other paths of the Queenstown Trail. A picnic and swimming area at the north end. We saw some people bicycling this path, and it would be great for that, too. Good parking at the north end.

A bit hard to catch public transport, but all good. Not many stores, cafe nearby. One winery is closeby which serves drinks and snacks.
