Arrowtown

An old mining town from the gold rush times. Quaint, pretty. Interesting remnants of the chinese miners quarter. If passing through, well worth spending a couple of hours there.

We came to Arrowtown as a day trip from the tourist bustle of Queenstown. It’s only 25minutes drive and well worth the effort. Arrowtown has a quaint village feel with plenty of Cafes and shops. There is also a nice park around the river as well. There’s a good car park park and not far to walk. We had a... More

Arrowtown have kept the old style of New Zeeland Buildings and style. It is worth a visit either for a daytrip or if you pass on your way. Take the short detour to this little charming town, you will not regret it. Plenty of restaurants shops and cafés. The road to and from the town is also worth the trip.... More

I stayed in a resort in Queenstown however Arrowtown won my heart. You can look for gold for $3.0 and $10 hire fee. The historic Chinese village is pretty cool and free :) Please visit this beautiful town. If you are from Eastern Europe you will be reminded so much of home with Arrowtowns beautiful trees and plants.

Free and good parking. Nice setting and a nice array of shops but some are hideously expensive. I'd almost say obsenely expensive. Wine coasters we saw at a Winery for $25 (Wineries not beeing noted as cheap!) we saw here at $50 Well good luck if you can get it but whilst I am not travelling on any sort of... More

After 3 or 4 kiwis recommended this to us, we decided to visit. The drive from Queenstown was beautiful, and the town is quite cute. But make sure not to go if it's rainy day - everything shut down because of the rain (and corresponding drop in tourists) when we were there. But it's lovely on a nice day. Didn't... More

The weather wasn't good for walking, but my husband and I couldn't care less. Arrowtown offers picturesque views and roads that beckon every visitor to explore. The houses are adorable. Plus, there was a Catholic Church! It seemed as if the place was just imagined, painted and made to come to life. Its rich history makes it even more interesting... More

Easy to get to and a great place to wander and relax. Plenty of places to have a meal or a snack and plenty of places to browse for that special item. An easy stop is the bakery and the remains of the Chinese settlement are a nice stroll.

Its such a sweet small town with a sleepy feel that is hard to find in our busy world. Its nice and picturesque, a few nice cafes and shops to check out. There is a lovely walk alongside the gorgeous river. There are some places where you can access the river, and small shallow places that are good for swimming... More
