We stumbled upon this place and enjoyed the dumplings so much we ordered a second plate. The service was really friendly and it was a beautiful outlook at the entry to the Chinese Settlement and the start of several waking and riding trails. With lots of natural beauty it was a great place to visit

We bought two pots of tea here during our visit to Arrowtown. We sat outside in the pretty garden area and enjoyed the view, the flowers, the sunshine and, of course, our drink. The teapots were huge and our drink seemed to go on forever - just as we like it! A lovely way to finish off a visit to... More

Right by the Chinese settlement, this cafe has a good range of drink and cakes plus a pleasant place to sit outside.

Dear Wounded Galaxy, We are glad you enjoyed your cup of tea and our garden surroundings. However we are a little confused by your review. Why did you score a "good" cup of tea only 3 stars, you seemed to have no fault with the experience? We would appreciate it if you could provide more feedback so we can improve... More

This is a lovely quaint place to relax after viewing the Chinese settlement. A lovely place to have scones. Coffee here is better than what we have experienced in Queenstown. There's a delightful dog called Trev. The kids loved panning for gold. Worth the visit.

Glad you enjoyed your visit Martin, and the best coffee in the Queenstown Lakes area. We make the apricot jam from the tree behind the cottage. Trev says..."thanks for playing with me and throwing my pine cone. Hope to see you again!" More

Went for the gold panning. The instructor had some hilarious jokes and knew how to handle the crush of people from a certain country, who for some reason wanted to take pictures of our kids learning how to pan for gold.

Pros Great place to learn to gold pan (and a 'win' everytime system! Great for kids) also run by an archeologist who was very informative. $10 Lovely setting beside Chinese village Quaint, but expensive shop adjoining cafe Lovely outdoor seating and a gorgeous friendly resident doggy! Cons We found the food slightly in the expensive side but understanding you are... More

Thank you for the 4 star review however a few things you mention do need clarification. The shop has high quality Kiwi designed gifts and our prices are very reasonable as any google price check on similar products will tell you. I'm not sure what cafes you normally frequent but $2.50 for a cheese roll, $2.50 for a small slice,... More

We enjoyed a quiet morning tea here. The steamed dumplings were tasty, although burnt on the bottom (?). On leaving, we overheard one of the staff commenting on the amount of sugar we used ... left a bad taste in our mouths.

Dear Powderpuff, thanks for your review. We are very disappointed to hear your dumplings were not to your liking as we take great pride in this dish, sourcing the very best authentic ingredients. I have looked into your complaint around your sugar consumption. The staff member at fault sincerely apologises for any offence taken. In this case the humour obviously... More

Great to hear our scones got your “best ever” vote! You may have noticed the apricot tree in the back yard which is the source of the jam you had with your scones. Straight from tree to pot to plate! We hope to see you back again at Dudley's one day. More

Lovely little cottage down by the river, they offer to teach you how to pan for gold for $10 and you get to keep any you find :-) There is also a selection of snacks and drinks available. Friendly staff and a lovely little collie dog that was sat outside letting us give him some fuss.
