We decided to walk up to the waterfall from Bignasco. You can drive up to the car park at the waterfall but you would then miss hiking through the woods, visiting tiny hamlets, crossing streams and waterfalls. Whichever way you choose to get there, the waterfall is worth seeing.

Nice valley and waterfall
Jul 2020 • Couples
A great and high waterfall (+100m). You can walk along (5min from a parking) or a bit more if you want to see it from a sort of natural balcony.
The village has a restaurant and a small typical shop. Really nice place and the valley is great.
That takes a day to visit it.

IMPRESSIVE AND A GOOD HIKE/WALK
Oct 2018 • Couples
Foroglio Waterfall at 262 feet is impressive, and it is easy to get to by walking or by car. And there is a very good restaurant (La Froda--see separate review) right at the base of the falls. From the restaurant, there is a short and easy path to the base of falls. One can also go to the top of the falls, but this is a steep climb (we did not do this). Our tour group walked down the Bavona Valley to get to the falls. This is an easy walk on a gradual downward gradient. Along the way, you pass and can go throough several 15th century villages (very small) consisting of stone houses with stone roofs. They are still in use, mostly as vacation homes.

Nice waterfall, great hike.

The waterfall is wonderful but the up to the top villages are better. They are dated to the 1500's and are frozen in time and still in use today. Take the hike to the top of the waterfall and keep going. I had a dip in a icy part of the river where it was safe to get in 👍.

Nice but nothing special
Jul 2017 • Family
Nice village and waterfall, but really nothing special. Not sure why people write that this is the best waterfall in Switzerland, there is better even in Ticino.
Stop by if you are already in the area, by all means, but certainly not worth going there just for the waterfall.

This is an excellent waterfall in an area of Switzerland which has yet to be discovered by mass tourism. The trip from Locarno took about an hour and we were surrounded by spectacular scenery there and back.

A oasis of freshness

In the middle of Val Bavona Foroglio is a picturesque village. From the 'Grotto" Froda you can see the beautiful waterfall. there is a path leading to the waterfall. there is also a path to the top of the waterfall (20min), a bit steep, but worth the effort.

Wonderful!

Probably the nicest and coolest waterfall in switzerland. Amazing mountain scenery paired with the deep sound of tons of falling water. Make sure you get as close as possible to get the max feeling.

Huge waterfall in a quiet and remote valley, with a walkway leading to it. Lovely picturesque village right next to the waterfall. Worth the drive!
