I hiked this with my sister on my last day in NZ. It was beautiful. Such a fantastic way to spend my last day. She used to run or bike it daily (new baby has put a stop to this for now!!). She moved back and settled in havelock north after years moving around NZ, specifically to be near this... More

After not raining for a couple of weeks, the night we arrived it started raining and rained the following day, so at the summit it was misty and rainy, so could not see anything.

On a cloudy, wet day I wasn't too keen on going to see the view from the peak. How wrong was I? Even with low clouds and drizzle the view was vast. At the peak you get the full 360 panoramic. On a clear day I will be back.

This was one of my favorite places to visit on the north island. We woke up early to catch the sunrise, it was on a weekday so there weren't many people at the summit. Parking was easy and there were many places to sit away from the few who were up there and watch the sun come up. At 6... More

Love the views and scenery. Not keen on the road going up there and parking at the top not over big but worth the visit

Te Mata Peak is one of the iconic places to visit in Hawkes Bay. The drive is a bit hairy so take care. The view is 360 and a visual feast. Lots of walking and biking tracks and like Rush Munro's not to be missed.

The best walks in the Bay. I spent my childhood walking TeMata Peak,we spent many hours with our children walking the tracks, and now there even more and more recently more cycle tracks. And the Redwood what fun as a family you can have hiding and chasing in the Redwoods. And the view just the best in Hawkes Bay best sunrise... More

You get awesome views from up here and it's not far to drive from Havelock North. The only downside is the road is very narrow in places and you have to be on the look out for cyclists. Also the road can get quiet busy at times. But well worth it.

You can't go to Hawkes Bay without visiting the peak. We drove up but plenty of people walking / biking. Unbelievable views once there.
