On a clear summer’s day we drove to the top of Te Mata Peak. The road towards the peak is narrow and steep so it was definitely a case of ‘eyes on the road’. At the top there was a parking area for 10-15 vehicles....More

Well worth the winding trek up to the top for the most awesome view across Hastings, to Napier and the Tuki Tuki river. For those keen for exercise there are walking and mountain bike tracks as well.

Te Mata Peak is a must see/do it absolutely georgeous. The view is so amazing. The next time I go up will be on the Super Trike, unfortunately for us they were booked out.

We visited Te Mata Peakk in a large bus. It was hair-raising but oh-so much fun. Once at the top the views were stunning. It was a sunny day and we could see far and wide. The vista almost seemed unlimited. Well worth the visit.

Really worth the trip up on a nice day. Remember to give way and wait your turn in the car when going up or down in the one way sections of the road near the top. Drive safe and be sensible. Well worth the effort,...More

From the top TeMata Peak you see the whole of Hawkes Bay region. Very scenic and it is about a 15 minutes from Hastings City centre. The peak is 400 metre high and driving up is not too difficult.

The bus tour we enjoyed took us to this amazing lookout location. We were able to see for an unlimited distance any any direction. Fantastic views ! We could even see the Mission Estates winery that we had visited just a short time before.

We had a great day there a little cloudy but still very clear day. You can see all of the cities. You can drive to the top but be careful as some of it is only one way. Will go there again - cheers RussellW

You can drive right to the top of this peak and the views truly are amazing. For more energetic people there are numerous walks at various stages which would be wonderful to do on a nice day. Highly recommend this place

Depends on whether you're carrying a lot of equipment or have younger kids. I'd say to allow 30 minutes if so. Maybe a bit more if you have some among you sort of side-tracking off the trail from time to time - I would... More

You can drive right to the top if you like, plenty of car parking at the top. The road to the top is quite narrow and windy however, so take care. However if you do wish you can walk to the top. Wouldn't take long for... More
