Nice and quiet escape

A beach where if you turn up to eat your takeaways you won't get pested by anything or anyone. If you have a 4x4 even better then you can drive down by the water and not get stuck.

Just outside of Whangeri but you have to leave the main road and turn down minor roads. The beach was almost empty when we arrived mid day. We stopped our camper van for lunch and a paddle. A great place to relax, sunbathe or swim. Very clean beach.

There are a few turns to take off the main road, but the beach is easily found. We stopped our campervan just left of the parking area for a shady lunch. A bit windy, but with the nice toilets and several points of access to the lovely long stretch of beach we were delighted. A bit chilly for a swim,... More

We were driving the east cost and decided we needed to pick a nice spot for lunch. Got lucky with this one! It's an absolutely stunning beach - long, white stands, beautiful blue waters. The only slight glaring eyesore was the fact that, in the distance, we could see a factory/foundry of some sort right on the coast: otherwise, it... More

Great place to stop off that isnt packed and have a dip. At high tide you can dive into the lagoon from the shore (the water depth is about 2m) and nearby you can watch the variable oystercatchers doing their thing hunting for a feed. Just hanging out gives you a good view of the cliffs to the north east.

My wife and I took two friends and our dogs to the Beach on a Wednesday afternoon to give the dogs a run and enjoy chasing the ball at shore line. We then had a picnic close to the Surf Club by the Motel. What a wonderful afternoon. There were no fish but a lot of paddle crabs were been... More

One of the most convenient beaches we visited, as it is accessible only a few minutes off the state hwy. The beach is in excellent condition and waters are very safe for our young kids. Locals are very friendly too. We stayed overnight here in our motorhome and the sunrise was spectacular.

I was here on a weekday, so it was pretty quiet, just a few other people enjoying the beach, some with their dogs. I had a good time taking pictures of shore birds and the amazing view. What I liked best was the pristine sand with little shells and small pieces of driftwood shattered by the wind.

The weather was good when we visited this gem of a beach. The tide was out but we were still able to swim. Surf Lifeguards were in patrol although there was no surf. Safe swimming in clear clean water. Ideal.
