Given the long history of riverside trading here in Whanganui, their riverside market was nothing short of an excellent experience for all. I was very impressed with the quality and variety of different food and coffee. I found used books I have been search for, awesome bread (authentically European) and fresh veggies and fruits. On a glorious Saturday morning, there... More

I really loved this market. We arrived at 8.30 and stalls were still setting up. But that was fine as we had coffee at the havoc stall. Good coffee. We walked around and were really impressed with the stalls. The food was great and interesting stalls. Everything is NZ made. Stall owners very friendly not pushy. Make sure you have... More

I was surprised about the size and content of this market. To be honest I was expecting just another small ton ho hum craft market with Chinese made content which sadly too familiar these days. Instead we found a bustling, friendly throng with lots of interesting food and hand made goods. Was told that when the weather is not so... More

This market is diverse and extremely popular for both visitors and locals. Located riverside as in its name it is a fun place to hang out on Saturday morning and grab a bite to eat for lunch. Picnic down beside the river or under the trees.

We got there and here we're these little ducks being raced down the river. It was for charity. You pick and pay for a duck with a number and at the end of the race if it's your duck you win a prize. Then we wandered further round the market and the people there have all types of different crafts... More

It's well worth stopping off for the Saturday market next to the river. Lots of variety and local produce. Some people knock Wanganui but it's a nice, friendly city. Yes, once you've explored the attractive architecture in the area around the bottom end of the main street, the rest is pretty typical of a NZ city/town. But, there's lots to... More

We wandered amongst the stalls on Saturday morning. The setting beside the Whanganui River and the Steam Paddler is lovely. The huge stainless steel ball art in the park makes for interesting photos too. There is a great variety of food...we had delicious crepes with lemon and sugar and sat in the sun to enjoy them. A pleasant way to... More

Very convenient place to go on Saturday. It is just beside a river and within the city and Isite. Some nice stalls and nice pizza.
