Here the story of wool is brought to life - told by those who lived it and the sounds of heritage machines weaving carpets and knitting socks. Here the smell of lanolin fills the air, fresh fleece beckons your touch and the authentic surrounds of the shearing shed immerse you in the Australian wool story.

The National Wool Museum experience is more than just wool. Here history, science, fashion, handcraft and art come together. Here temporary exhibitions and programs combine learning, exploration and entertainment. Here you can find the finest woollens, learn a traditional craft, explore our region's heritage and maybe even come fate-to-face with creatures from our past.

Today the National Wool Museum is one of Australia's cultural treasures, a major asset to the City of Greater Geelong and a cultural heritage destination for visitors and community.

Geelong’s Wool Museum is an excellent venue to visit for both tourists and locals. This museum highlights the history of the wool industry, as its name suggests, and also hosts many interesting exhibitions. Right now, for example, many brilliant photographs are on display from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and there is also a pirate exhibition. The museum is... More

Had a really good time visiting the Wool Museum. Anyone of all ages could spend the day there, you can also use the ticket again if you need to go out for anything. The old machinery mainly made in Yorkshire England was very interesting and the demonstration of the Axminster carpet loom was good to watch. There was also a... More

Visited the National Wool Museum to view the photographic exhibition which was inspiring and extensive. Entry price was $9 per adult and we were also able to view the history of wool exhibition, a dinosaur exhibition and another children's exhibition had we wished to do so. We thought that this was great value compared to some exhibitions we have seen... More

Great day out for kids and adults alike. Great value for money, a lot to see (3 levels!), interactive games and activities and samples to touch and learn from. Great staff willing to chat and show you how everything works. Changing exhibits on level 3. Highly recommend.

The National Wool Museum is housed in the first wool store building in Geelong. Surprisingly more than a century ago, Geelong had a thriving textile industry supported by the many local graziers. The museum houses many varied exhibits about the local wool industry across two levels. Exhibits include the life of farmers and shearers, the processes undertaken to make the... More

Only went there to see the removed Geelong Historical Records Centre. A bit of an inconvenience with stairs and needing to wear a tag on entry. Nevertheless some interesting information.
