My rented apartment is just in front of this park and we walked to the Saturday market. Park has never amaze me but this one gives me a sense of peace. Have a walk, pack a sandwich and coffee. Breath in the fresh air. There's an enclosure of a handful of monkeys. Kind of weird to find it there.

One of the best Launceston city parks. Well kept, beautiful gardens, great place to unwind. Interesting macaque monkey in closure. They seem happy. Central location easy walk from city centre

City Park is regarded amongst the best. It is beautifully maintained, has historic interest and beautiful plants and garden to enjoy. It is also called the ' monkey park' by many because of the enclosure that is home to a number of them. It is a gorgeous place for a picnic and has plenty of space for children to play.... More

Nice big park with lots of areas to sit under the shade. Toilets are clean (compared to other major cities). Not too keen on the monkey enclosure, read on the info plaques that they have Hep B. Lets hope the floods never reach the park and enable them to escape.

I was pleasantly surprised by the happy, active monkeys in the early morning (7.30am). They entertained as they jumped on the ropes, happily ate their food, and rolled onto their backs to soak in the sun. Colourful plants and well kept lawns made the morning stroll through the park delightful!

We visited City Park on a nice sunny day and had a picnic on the grass area. The Park is really quite big so you have quite a lot of space to spread out and not be too close to anyone else nearby. Monkey were great for a look, and there was also a kids train available for rides around... More

We has an excellent time at the park. Lots of beautiful flowers and trees. The lawns were magnificent and the gardens spectacular. We visited the monkey enclosure and watched their antics for quite some time. Definitely worth a visit and it is free as well. Well done to the council for presenting such a wonderful facility.
