"Nothing is great unless it is good" is the mission statement that has guided Tyrrell's Wines for over 150 years; and since Edward Tyrrell established the winery in 1858, we have continued to produce premium wine from what are now some of the oldest vineyards in the world.

Tyrrell's is one of Australia's oldest family owned wineries. We produce some of the country's most renowned wines, including the iconic Vat 1 Semillon, and since 1971 our wines have been awarded over 5,500 trophies and medals. Tyrrell's Wines is a proud member of Australia's First Families of Wine and along with our original, historic vineyard in Hunter Valley, we have expanded into other premium Australian wine regions like Heathcote, VIC and the Limestone Coast, SA.

Wine Tastings and Winery Tours

Visit Tyrrell's Wines' historic cellar door and vineyards in the Hunter Valley and immerse yourself in over 150 years of award winning winemaking tradition. Join us for our daily winery tour and experience our historic red cellar, see the ironbark hut that was the original home of Edward Tyrrell and learn about how our wines are made. After the tour, enjoy a wine tasting showcasing the best of our regional wines. Whether you enjoy red wine, white wine or anything in between, you will be sure to find something you love - from the iconic varieties of the region like Semillon, Shiraz and Chardonnay right through to our premium Fortified and Sparkling wines.

We enjoyed the vineyards, the winery tour, the wine tasting, and the people at Tyrrell's. I think we tasted 12 different wines they have.

1 of the oldest and certainly the finest wineries in the region. Tyrrell's hosted about 11 of us and pulled out all the stops. Thanks Chris, Jane & Richo for an unforgettable day. Tyrrell's is a must see and a must taste.

Far away from another time, this is a fantastic winery where the family tradition of making quality wines at reasonable prices continues. In the historic tasting room, when we showed our interest in and love for wine, the presentation became more personalised. We were provided information about the local soils and climate, information about the wines themselves, and of course... More

Loved this wine tasting.....have always liked the Tyrells wines and enjoyed having passionate knowledgeable staff conducting the tastings and not putting too much pressure on the sell. Highly recommended!

The views from Tyrrell's are sublime, yet the modesty of this enterprise belies its worldwide reputation. Very professional approach to tasting, predominantly whites and reasonably priced

Dear whingypom, Thanks for taking the time to review Tyrrell's. Agree the views are somewhat spectacular. We welcome many visitors to the winery from all over the world and also have a picnic and BBQ area which take in that same fabulous view. Perhaps that's on the cards for next time? I am also pleased you enjoyed the tasting experience... More

Did a complementary wine tour ( through accomm deal ) think is was $5 charge for others. Suppose to take 45minutes but went for 11/2 hours .guy ( forgot his name ) was excellent. Went out into the vines then through the winery itself. Can't fault it or some of the wines were good. Bought some.

I had been here a few years ago and was impressed then. The cellar door is still a great place to visit. If you have not been to cellar doors before this is a great place to start. Staff are welcoming and chatty. They are happy to deal with people with limited wine knowledge and provide education and tips. They... More

We wanted to visit one of the older wineries with a history. We weren't disappointed. Our guide ,Scott, had all the knowledge about both the Australian wine industry, the making of wine and the history of the wineries. No big push to buy but plenty of tasting on offer. If you buy a dozen you can join the club which includes... More
