There is a carpark in the vicinity and the beach is a short walk away. An enjoyable way to chill out if you do not have too much time to spare.

So nice to let the children swim in salt water without worrying about rogue waves etc. Great spot for people watching too. Lovely sparkling crystal clear waters. And the cafe on the waterfront, Surf, serves several delicious gluten free options!

Yes this is absolutely fantastic place and if you are around Newcastle go to Merewether Beach. Beach is for reasonable good swimmers and if you are not confident there is a bath with all you need, very safe for kids, mums and dads. Enjoy Branimir

A great beach that can compete with the best. Plenty of waves for those surfers and plenty of sand for the family and friends. This really is a beautiful beach and great area in the heart of Newcastle. What a gem. Bring the whole family....More

Love to walk along the stunning Coastline and finish with some fine dining at the Merewether Surf club or some great casual eats at the cafe. So gorgeous we make it a regular outing.

Before I moved from Newcastle down to Canberra I lived in Merewether. It was always a place I could "recharge my batteries", and that's exactly what I felt when I returned for a long weekend. On a beautiful, sunny, winter's day it was stunning. Plenty...More

A lot of people walk their dogs on the foot path adjacent to the beach. Highly popular. However dogs are not allowed on this beach. There is a designated dog beach some 10 minutes away (Horseshoe Beach) next to Nobby's Beach.
