Interesting look at Newcastle history. Covers coal mining, rock music, and the steel smelter amongst other things. Disappointed nothing on the 1989 earthquake, unless I missed it. Free entry, worth a look.

Although this museum was small it was bright, clean, interesting, informative, and family friendly. Learning about Newcastle‘s history, the displays of artefacts, the dedicated children’s centre (where adults can learn too!!), and temporary exhibits on water and also BHP mining were all appreciated. Learn about the history of newcastle here. Learned about coal mining, hunter water, and a whole lot more. There's an interactive science space for children.

Has exhibits catering to both kids and adult alike. I enjoyed the historical exhibits while the kids enjoyed the science experiential space and playground.
