Newcastle Museum is very interesting, educational and entertaining

I've enjoyed Newcastle Museum for many years, back since it was on Hunter/King Streets. It's a terrific place to spend time, with many interesting exhibits.

We have not visited the Newcastle Museum since our children were very young and the were at their old location. We visited this week to see the Japanese tattoo photographic display currently visiting. The exhibit was well presented and very interesting. The space at their new location is a wonderful old tram shed with soaring ceilings and lovely old industrial... More

I found this by mistake when I went for a bit of a walk around. It is a hidden gem of Newcastle. Spend some time and have a look around.

Excellent day out activity. Took my nephews there and they had a blast. They especially enjoyed the one steel show on the hour and asked lots of questions. Super nova science area heaps of fun too. Wore them out 👍

We always take the grandchildren to this museum when we are in Newcastle and it is always enjoyable and fun for the whole family. The children, who are aged from 4 to 12 years old, always enjoy the exhibitions, the exciting items on sale at the shop and of course the indoor play area. The cafe, which is set indoors... More

We (myself and 6 year old daughter) went to have a look at the humanoid exhibition but when we got there we were told that there was an educational talk on "how your body works", the gentlemen who presented (Dave) was wonderful!! The museum was so cool and a great hide-away in the heat of summer. The interactive area was... More

We are locals, so we go back to the museum regularly. For a small museum, it does a great job of regularly changing the exhibits. The standard (free) exhibits include Supanova - a hands on science exploration (lifting up a full size car is one of the favourites!), the BHP exhibit (including a light and sound show on the hour... Took a Japanese visitor her on a rainy day and he was very pleased. Lots to do and see that reflects our local history.
