This is such an essential service & it was great to be able to learn more about it. The volunteers are friendly, knowledgeable and so passionate about what they do. The video was really informative and quite moving in parts when you see just what the service means to people living remotely. The memorabilia room is really cool, especially the... More

The RFDS centre was very educational for both us and our children (11/10/9). Seeing what the RFDS do throughout the outback really gave us an appreciation for what they do in order to preserve life.

I've been a regular visitor to Dubbo for work over the past 15 years or so, and am also an aviation nut. Knew the base there opened in the late 1990's but that was about it, I didn't even know they did tours etc. we were warmly greeted by two very lovely young ladies who are volunteers (very passionately so!)... Nicely set out insight into the history of RFDS. Starts with a video of their work and then followed by a guided tour of the various historical maps, charts and medicines. Outside is a part fuselage to allow you to experience the cramped space which both the medics and patients endure. The talks are given by volunteers who are so... More

The RFDS as it is know is the saviour of the bush. It has saved countless lives and helped many outback inhabitants and travelers. This exhibition.explains the history and the running of the operation. Don'y leave Dubbo without paying this place a visit. It is free but a donation is most welcome.
