Ferry was great, jump on board and away you go essentially. Doesn’t take that long to get to the island only an hour. Prefer to go by boat than plane any day. The ferries make easy work of the strait, always fun when it’s a...More

You have two choices to get to Stewart Island: Ferry or fly.. We chose the catamaran ferry. It is very casual, basic service. The ferry seats about 100-125 passengers. There is a bar on board. Luggage is loaded into watertight bins which are strapped onto the...More

Basically the only way to cross from Bluff, the ferry is comfortable and right on time. Staff friendly and luggage loaded and unloaded on each side.

Was picked up from the Invercargill Airport and dropped off at the wharf in Bluff. An 'interesting' trip to Oban-wind and waves but we were all well looked after by the crew!! Left and arrived on time. Loved the bins for the luggage-most efficient

Plenty of parking by the ferry terminal and Bluff is a lovely safe town. You should have no problem at all.
