About
While Queenstown is generally done at full pace, Onsen Hot Pools takes a step back to let you take in the beauty of the surroundings and simply relax. With uninterrupted views across the Shotover Canyon, our Cedar Hot Tubs are heated to 37.8C on warmer days and up to 39.8C during the winter and can accommodate up to four adults. Our natural setting is matched by the pure water captured on its endless journey between the sky and earth to continually fill and refresh the pools. With complimentary transport to and from Queenstown, Onsen Hot Pools is relaxation the natural way.

    A bucket list experience
Visited with my 20 something son. We were collected by their courtesy bus in Queenstown (very handy as we didn't have a car). Really enjoyed our hour in the pool overlooking the Shotover River, with complementary drink (hot chocolate as the day was cold and rainy) & snack.

    Nice experience
A visit to the Onsen pools is on every 'must do' list for Queenstown. We went at night and the peace and starry sky were lovely. The girls working there were very nice. I'm just not sure it lives up to the major hype it receives. It is a lovely experience though. Book well in advance and the parking is limited and tight so beware!

Make time for Hot tub time!!
What a magic experience with an amazing view! A must do for couples when in Queenstown. There’s a complimentary shuttle from town to Arthur’s Point and it’s totally worth the trip! We enjoyed our drink and snack in the hot tub whilst taking in the incredible views. It was freezing outside and amazing in. Perfect amount of time to relax and enjoy!

    Beautiful and something romantic
This is a beautiful and relaxing spa. They played tranquil music whilst we looked over the valley. We had the 6pm booking where we could still see the mountains and river until the sun went down completely and we could then stargaze. Note you only got about 50 minutes in the pool as they use this time for you to get dressed.

    Amazing
We were lucky to find a slot had opened up for the onsen hot pools and couldn’t turn it down. The place books up well in advance so get on their website way before your trip. Get on the waitlist and keep checking for openings!! The views speak for themselves. The hot pools were relaxing and you could enjoy the epic scenery of the area. The staff were great when checking in and taking us to the pools. The place is awesome.

    Luxurious experience near to Queenstown
This was a luxurious experience, just a short 5 minute drive from Queenstown. The hot tubs open up to the mountains, while offering privacy, and the views are totally unobscured. A drink and snack were provided per person. We went in May and it wasn't too cold. If you want to catch views of the mountains in the day in the autumn, it would be better to get a booking before 5pm. Our reservation was at 6pm and the sun was already setting, but we still got to see the dimly-lit mountain views, followed by stars in the sky.

    Absolute must
My sister and I did a onsen soak and facial package. Highly recommend as it was so relaxing and the views were beautiful. Staff were incredibly patient and we received great service. Facial was so relaxing i started snoring at some stages. Loved the products they used in us. Would definitely be going back in the future.

    Worth a go
Pamper yourself and your loved one with a hot bath, a nice view and a soothing massage! Don’t forget to bring your own swimsuit. Don’t confuse check in and treatment time. The treatment time equals the beginning time of hot pool.

The Ultimate Relaxation Experience With Breathtaking Views
Truly a luxurious experience! I purchased a Serenity Soak which included a soak and spa treatment (massage + facial). From arrival through to leaving, the staff were professional, informative, kind and polite. My soak was originally for 45 minutes, but they increased it to an hour due to the fact that my pool hadn't been available on time. I had my own balcony view, it felt private and relaxing. The soak was so soothing, and they even opted to add some hydrating coconut milk. The refreshments were divine; both during my soak and afterwards. The view was absolutely incredible! The massage was very enjoyable and relaxing; they utilised a scent that I had chosen on arrival. The masseuse was thorough. I'm pretty sure I fell asleep momentarily! The facial was a nice exfoliating facial and my skin felt lovely afterwards. The facilities are fantastic, they have showers, bath soap and a hair dryer for those who wish to wash off afterwards. They provide x2 towels, one for the soak and one for a shower. I would definitely recommend this experience for anyone visiting Queenstown, NZ!

    Relaxing in style
If you're in Queenstown and want to treat yourself you have to take the trip to Onsen hotpools. The pickup from the city was smooth and then you get taken to a private onsen for an hour with free glass of wine and chocolate (or other choice of drinks/snacks). They just leave you there for the hour undisturbed and the water is gorgeous set in a stunning location with a great view of the river. If you can get there for sunset it is so special and then you can look up at the stars while you relax and unwind.

We were originally booked in for a soak and couples massage treatment for 3:00PM, but due to some construction locally, the Onsen called and offered to either refund our booking or reschedule us for 6:00PM. We took the later booking, and wow, are we glad we did!

Being early winter, the sun was setting as we arrived. The spa opens directly to the valley below and mountain across, but the night became truly special as the stars came out (we enjoyed a clear night).

After a soak, we had joint massages, with hit stones and relaxation. Juliana and Hazel were magnificent, and after 90 minutes, we could have melted into the tables.

Thank you for a really lovely and relaxing experience!

Very disappointing . My friend and I booked the hot tub . There were no robes supplied . The bathroom we changed in was cold ! From the bathroom you had to walk on cold floors to the tub . Had asked for the girl to take a photo of us but she delivered our drinks before we were in the tub . Never came back . Would also be a nice touch to have a knock on the door to see if all was good , did we need anything . The staff were standing around chatting outside the whole time
Wouldn’t go back .

What a wonderful experience
My partner and I visited for a treat for his birthday from Australia
From the moment we stepped into the reception area, staff were welcoming and friendly
Decor was fresh and modern and it smelled lovely.
We arrived at spa number 6
A beautiful outlook onto the river and paddocks
The only thing we didn't enjoy seeing were the abundance of blackberry bushes on view
Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to unwind and take time to relax
Nice touch of the ginger beer and choice of snack
Can't wait to visit again..
Thanks

Such a lovely experience, the staff were really friendly and the onsen was amazing. We were given a complimentary snack and drink and had an hour to enjoy the incredible view from the warmth of the onsen. They feel very private and you couldn’t see nor hear any other guests.

Sights to die for in the open but private while you soak in a hot cedar tub with your loved one. You are provided with a snack, drink of choice & water. Additionally a robe & towel. 45 minutes is ideal. Following the soak had a hot stone massage in a beautiful environment. Loved it.
Such a beautiful set up. Did ours in the morning. Allow 3 hours.

We booked the night session for the original onsen soak and had a wonderful experience. The experience from door to door was wonderful. Right from Connor picking us up in the transport shuttle from the pick up point through to Jake dropping us back after our session and the reception staff that looked after us when we arrived, everything was perfect.

The onsen was lovely and clean and the choice of snacks and drinks only added to the experience. Who would have thought that I could be eating boysenberry ice cream in a private hot pool surrounded by lanterns in 0 degree temperatures while overlooking snowcapped mountains at night time with relaxing music playing in the background. Yes, it was really that good.

Definitely worth vistiing when you are in Queenstown. Make sure you book early as it fills up very quickly. We will be back. Next time will be a daytime session so we can see the mountains during the day and hopefully squeeze in a massage treatment while we are at it. Thank you to the staff at Onsen Hot Pools for a wonderful experience.
