"EVERY STEP A STORY....”

It’s our privilege to take you into some of the most beautiful and spectacular areas in the Queenstown and Fiordland region to experience everything from glacial valleys and majestic mountains to beautiful lakes and pristine rainforest. Our friendly, knowledgeable local guides ensure you have the time to enjoy the whole experience nature has provided.

We’ve chosen our range of walks for their natural history, scenic beauty, remote locations and varied terrain. We’re proud of our company's reputation for providing friendly, informative and personalised guided walks for small groups, and working to make Guided Walks NZ the most memorable part of your New Zealand experience.

Why choose Guided Walks NZ? The answer’s simple – we’re the only guiding company permitted to walk "off track" in the National Park. This means we avoid the crowds and experience a true 'wilderness' walk, letting you see and touch the real New Zealand.

We went on a half-day snowshoeing excursion with Peter in the Remarkables, near Queenstown and we very much enjoyed it. Peter, our very kind fun guide, came to pick us up at the YHA where we were staying and took us up to the ski slopes in the Remarkables. We had a little stop on the way to take pictures... More

I am not a skier or snowboarder but I love Queenstown in the winter for the amazing scenery, cold and snow, so to find this attraction on offer for non skiers absolutely made my holiday there a few weeks ago. Marcus was our guide for the day (I did a full day trip and we fondly called him our sherpa!)... More

Peter was a great guide and made the afternoon really enjoyable. Would have loved to have done a full day hike so as to experience more of the fantastic scenery. Would definitely do again and take the kids next time. Natalie and Leon-Perth WA

18th July, I went with Peter and a friendly Irish Mum and daughter, to the Remarkables for a snow shoe adventure. We left an overcast dismal day in Queenstown, drove through the cloud and spent the morning in brilliant sunshine. Peter kept us laughing the whole time but was very informative and helpful. His carved out seats in the snow,... More

Words don't do justice to the beauty you will see on a day hike near Queenstown with Guided Nature Walks. Our guide Karen was full of knowledge about the local foliage and wildlife. She was told by our tour company, mistakenly, that we were in our 60s, so when she came to collect us at the hotel she was surprised.... More

I was on a package tour so I wasn't sure what to expect from the walk that the agent booked for me and my friends. I had the best time walking the Routeburn with Peter. His expertise in the area and sense of humor definitely made the walk more fun and interesting. The scenery is amazing on its own, but... More

me and other 2 friend went on a day trip with peter on the routeburn track in the middle of June, it was cold but really beautiful, peter was full of interested facts and we took tons of amazing pictures because he took us on a side track on the way back, something we will not be able to do... Karen was our terrific guide on a lovely nature walk. It was a perfect pace, in a perfect place, with a knowledgeable and professional guide who introduced us to the trees, flora, and birds that we saw along the way. We had morning tea on a hilltop overlooking Bobs Cove. This was a perfect way to offset our frenetic tour... More

Thanks to Peter Hitchman we had a fantastic afternoon learning about and seeing the flora and fauna around Queenstown. He blended the facts with great humour. Brian and Christina. Feb 2010.
