We visited these gardens on a weekday in early summer and found them to be quiet and peaceful. It is stunning here and there are a few things and different areas to look at. The river is home to ducks and some bridges while the gardens have beautiful plants, a rose garden and a fernery. Definitely worth a visit if... More

Mona Vale garden is a relatively small but exquisite garden set on the banks of the Avon River in the suburbs of Christchurch. If you are travelling be car, take Riccarton Road and, at Fendalton, turn off at Mona Vale Avenue. This will take you to the carpark at the back of the gardens. Then get out of the car... More

We had the opportunity to stroll through the very pretty Mona Vale Garden. It was such a pleasant and peaceful place and I wish we had more time to sit and reflect. It's by far not the largest botanical gardens we have seen, but it is really beautiful and you should visit it.

I took an early morning stroll through these gardens as they were near my hotel & open 7am - late (free entry). Large well established older style garden with a lovely pool & fountain, iris walk, riverwalk, rose garden and much more - well worth a visit.

This is a great little oasis in the center of the city. Lots of lovely benches to sit upon after you have walked around the grounds. Information signs everywhere stating how historical it is. A beautiful river flowing through the middle of the grounds too. Great spot for a picnic on a sunny day.

Good place for practicing Yoga close by the Roses Garden in Mona Vale. It is quite and grassy. People are friendly and respectful of your practice.

This is very Beautiful, it's free and very well manicured. I lived in Merivale, many years ago where this beautiful house and gardens are situated, now a tea rooms and gazebo, pond and lawns. A well known local hub and great to take the young ones. Well worth a visit.
