Lovely little gardens, and tranquil spots to plan family outings or that very romantic picnic. Great for wedding photos or ceremonies .

Funny thing, when I was young a friend of mine and I use to fish here and catch lots of trout, it was a great place to chill for the day and picnic on the grounds.

Lots of amazing flowers! Fun to go rollerblading through. Well maintained. It would be nice to have a big cafe or food place there though. Nice place for a picnic though.

This park contains a beautiful rose garden and a quiet pool for sitting and reflecting. The magnificent house should have earthquake repairs completed soon, and I assume the restaurant within will be reopened. It was a wonderful place of lunch on a summer's day. In February each year, a local company performs Shakespeare in the open in this park. There... More

Mona Vale, complete with the little River Avon, is so English that only a homeowners' flags hint otherwise. It's one of the best examples of how Christchurch residents created something of an improved version of their mother country. As lovely as Mona Vale is, it's worth the short walk to see the historic Riccarton homestead with its own big trees... More

The garden stretches along a little stream. It has a nice rose garden and a variety of lovely trees, buildings and architectural features. A very nice fern building. Truly a lovely walk. Only a few blocks from the botanic garden. Also of interest is the earthquake damage to some of the walls and buildings - which is being repaired.

We always stay near Mona Vale when we come to Christchurch Its a great place to come for a walk or picnic (you can take your dog even). Unfortunately the buildings are still waiting for repairs after the earthquakes in 2011 so you can only view them from the outside. This doesnt stop you from going through the wonderfully peaceful... Mona vale is a mesmerizing garden in Christchurch. We were informed by the guide that Christchurch is known as Garden City and it is mendatory for every house in the city to have a garden and maintain it properly. Mona Vale is a very beautiful big garden befitting for a garden city. Specialy the rose garden in Mona Vale is... More

Lovely gardens, streams and Lilly ponds. The buildings on site are amazing too. I had my wedding photos taken here and they were spectacular. A good place to go with your camera and enjoy the flowers and the cool shady spaces on a hot day.
