Nothing too special about this park. Just a normal park with a nice Homestead House available for events. The rose garden wasn't too impressive. Prefer Hagley Park over Mona Vale.
My family decided to do the punt through along the river through Mona Vale. The sun was shining through the Autumn leaves, and it was just superb. Louis, although not from this country, had boned up on his knowledge and was able to provide a commentary as we glided along the river. He was skillful managing the punt and looked... More
This is a special place. Like much of Christchurch, this place represents the city council nicks commitment to play bloc places of beauty. The rose garden is lovely, and the cafe is quiet, and a very nice place for afternoon tea or a coffee.
Mona Vale is gracious and pretty and calming. It's a lovely old house and garden run under the auspices of the City Council. It runs between Fendalton Road and Mona Vale Avenue, just off Riccarton Road. It's very close to Hagley Park to the west, so if you're feeling energetic you could walk from one to the other. There's quite... More
Much lesser known especially over the Christchurch Botanic Garden, Mona Vale park is a real gem. Yes, the Avon river do flow pass the garden with million dollars garden and river view residences sitting across the opposite bank to this garden. I am in love with this small ( and little known to foreign tourists) garden instantly and wished that... More
Along with Hagley Gardens, Mona Vale is amazing! I love the rose gardens, all the different colors and fragrant. The lily ponds are so warm and inviting that you want to jump in but you can't and shouldn't. Walking along the canal is so relaxing on a sunny day. even on a chilly, drizzle day with umbrella you will find... More
The wettest day in ChCh for some time, but inside was it was lovely and warm. The refurbishment looks great, the colours scheme in soft greens reflects the outdoors nicely. It was way too wet to venture into the gardens, but they were truly gorgeous. We stayed for morning tea, the food was fresh and tasted good. A lovely place... More
Beautiful house and gardens close to downtown Christchurch. Houuse is open as a restaurant. High tea is available. We didn'thave time to eat here but it looked lovely. The gardens are well kept and meander along the river. the gazebo is very unusual.
