The Canterbury Museum is always an interesting place to visit if you are visiting Christchurch On display are many of New Zealand heritage and history along with the special exhibits. Check the latest on their website to see what they have on display, on this occasion I visited there was an Air New Zealand exhibit for example.

We did the ground floor and enjoyed the Maori and Air NZ special exhibition. The film about the Paua house is kitsch but fascinating. Very good cafe and shop. Need to return

We visited the museum late December to view the Air NZ display. It is fabulous & exciting for children. Very hands on too with being able to paint & aircraft on the computer. I as an adult enjoyed being taken back in time to N.A.C days & a trip through the ages of Air NZ & how it has grown... More

You may donate some money at entrance as they don't charge entry fee but still need to maintain everything.

This exhibition takes you back and forward and is really worthwhile. It is memorable and then you put on 21C gear and look into the future - it is awesome. Do not forget that Air NZ is the aster of innovation when it comes to explanation of the safety features on its aircraft.

We walked around the Antarctic area and the AirNZ displays (which did have items for interaction, such as a short film from the cockpit showing a landing of another where you could select interviews with ground staff on their job roles during changeovers). We didn't visit the history area having so enjoyed the Te Papa Museum in Wellington.

... It is a well organized and managed museum, even with a cafe with views into the Botanical gardens. We've enjoyed very much the special exhibition around the 75 years jubilee of Air New Zealand. Great show!
