We were escorted on the tour by a very well informed, and prepared lady. The history of the house, the family that built it, and the Christchurch area turned out to be one of the most amazing stories of any country. Lots of sadness overcome by shear determination, something that shows again today in the city, rebuilding from disaster to... More

When we visit Christchurch, Saturday is Farmers Market day - with family/friends or just us - it's the perfect way to spend the morning. Starting with great coffee, pastries, and lots more for breakfast then it's time to wander through the produce stalls - vegetables, fruit, honey, cheeses - and talking to the producers makes it all the more worthwhile.... We spent a very enjoyable day visiting the House and Bush with stops for coffee and lunch which were both very good. The guide Antonia couldn't have been more helpful and we spent well over an hour being shown around the house. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Bush incredible to find it has survived in the city. Well worth... More

Lovely old Victorian mansion situated in a parklike setting. Home of one of the founding families of Christchrch, the property also features the original cottage they lived in prior to building the large house. Guided tours arw given Sunday-Friday at 2pm. It is well worth taking the tour as the guide is so well-informed about the house, family and the... More

Farmers Market on Saturday mornings is a must do - amazing food, locally produced and great place to catch brilliant breakfast and nibbles for later. Talk to the makers, growers and producers. Delightful and new things all the time.
