It's the ultimate Antarctic adventure! Experience the dramatic seasonal lighting in the four seasons of Antarctica show where it 'snows' every 6 minutes. Venture out on to 'the ice' from Scott Base to play in 'Antarctica' the snow & ice experience and survive an Antarctic storm! How long can you hold your hand in the icy Antarctic water? Hang out with Little Blue Penguins, buckle up for the famously exciting Hagglund ride, take an awesome simulated 4D Antarctic cruise, watch Happy Feet 4D, then watch a stunning movie on a MASSIVE screen! It's the closest you'll get to Antarctica without mounting your own expedition!

As a kiwi I was disappointed by this centre. While there is a huge amount of interesting info displayed, the centre seems like it needs a refurb and improvement to justify the $39 entry fee. A lot of displays seem quite old and it is poorly set out so people are constantly back tracking through the displays causing a lot... More

This is very unique place to visit, and has a variety of attractions including a very cold winy room, theatre, 4D theatre, penguin exhibit and feeding, and museum section. The Hagglund ride (tracked vehicle ride through obstacle course) was hilarious, and great fun, if a bit rough. You are given timed tickets for the Hagglund, so best go get there... More

There's a palpably stunned silence after the safety brief. Even the helicopter briefing in Fox Glacier wasn't so, so- it's hard to find the exact word. "Now the ride is very noisy and this is a camera without audio, I can't hear you if you are screaming so wave your hands frantically and I'll stop". We're sharing the back with... More

Don't miss the chance to visit this centre which has so much to offer for young and old alike. Highly educational buts lots of fun as well such as the 4D experience. Friendly helpful staff and good cafe.

We dropped in to the centre for a couple of hours prior to flying to Queenstown. It's literally 5 mins down the road from the airport. North particularly cheap but the kids enjoyed patting the huskies, the Hagglund ride, the 4D movies and snow storm. The penguins were all sleeping in their nests when we went. You can probably see... Held the interest of three generations including Grandad. Something for all generations. The penguins, the storm room, the tractors all kept our attention. Perhaps the only negative thing was that the guy outside with the Husky dogs seemed very nervous and uptight about our interaction with the dogs. He kept shouting at us not to pat the dogs on the... Interactive and fun, the IAC is ideal for kids from about 10 up. There's an antarctic storm with serious wind and snow, a 3D movie with simulation (they call it 4D), penguins, many fascinating displays, and a fantastic ride in a Hagglund Arctic vehicle. Allow a few hours, we did two hours and it wasn't long enough to see and... More

I took my granddaughter to the Antarctic Centre on Sunday and I was really disappointed. There is some very good educational information but we really wanted to see the penguins playing in the pool. The took my money which I thought was quite expensive and never mentioned the penguins weren't on display.

This venue went out of its way to provide the antarctic experience by giving you the cold experience, the wind and water experience and the travelling on the ice vehicles. Great. Add to this the static displays and the penguins. A worthwhile visit.
