After a long wait on Waitangi Day to view the house and we were able to see the upstairs area too, we found it a little disappointing. Originally built for the Hannah Family when it would have been a remarkable home, then a hostel for Govt post office employees after which it fell in to a state of disrepair. Luckily... More

We stumbled upon this house on the way to the Cable Car. When we arrived there was another group of about 8 people inside and the lady in the office was just beginning to start a private tour. The tour lasted about 15min. and we were not able to see the whole house, just some individual rooms. The house was... More

The house is quite lovely and entry is free, but it is the headquarters of Historic Places Trust, so most of the building is staff offices and not open for public viewing. It's worth popping into if you are walking by but don't make a special trip to see the interiors.

Worst Historic place setting I've ever seen. Offers nothing but silence and screeds of text. Basically, I don't care.
