Take a walk - Every day at 10.00am, Walk Wellington gives you an excellent introduction into this exuberant, walkable city and its people. Our guides have a deep knowledge and love of Wellington and enjoy helping to make your visit an absolutely positively fantastic experience. Walks take about two hours. We walk every day except Christmas Day and Good Friday, rain or shine, so it's best to dress to suit the weather. During the summer (December through March) take advantage of Wellington's long days with an evening walk on Monday, Wednesday or Friday at 5.30pm. Walk Wellington tours leave from the temporary i-SITE Visitor Centre 111 Wakefield St at Cuba St, adjacent to Civic Square. Look for the guide in the bright, green vest! Our stand is just inside the doors on the left.

Our time was limited and we have had good luck with walking tours in other places and we were not disappointed this time either. Our guide was soft spoken and took time with each stop to be sure details were explained and questions answered. He covered folklore, history, art and a little bit of tongue in cheek politics.

We were walking e were on the first tour starting at the railway station to give close acceses from cruise ships. Our guide did a terrific job and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. This tour made Wellington one of our best stops on the trip.

We often begin a city visit with a tour like this to orientate ourselves and to get an introduction to the highlights. The success generally depends on the skills of the guide and the size of the group Sadly, and despite there being only 6 in the group, our guide Erina was unable to make herself heard above the city's... One of the New Zealand highlights was ther Wellington walking tour which took over 4 ½ hours. Our tour guide Gavin was a delight and did not rush our group. We needed to walk up some steep streets to see the best sights and even though I'm not very fit, I found it was do-able. During the walk, a resident... More

We toured with Fay on March 16. We learned so much and we really appreciated her depth of knowledge. Since she grew up in Wellington, she could share personal info about the changes in the city. The architecture touchstones really led to a nice unfolding of the history, geology and development of Wellington. We also stopped at places I wanted... More

Keith, our guide, packed an entire guide book worth of information into a three-hour delightful adventure. He made the walk enjoyable, informative, and fun. Five stars for Keith and Walk Wellington!

The great walk we did with Ross on 21 February 2017 was an excellent introduction to this friendly, welcoming city. Most recommended!

As it was our first time in Wellington we opted for the Walk Wellington guided tour. In 2 hours we learned a great deal about the city and saw many interesting buildings and sculptures. Our volunteer guide Robin certainly knew how to promote his city. Beats finding the highlights while holding a map. It was $20 (per person) very well... More

Based on other peoples reviews, our party of four booked this tour from our cruise ship - the Celebrity Solsrice. Firstly, Wellington is a beautiful city - compact, clean, and a delight to walk round. The tour guides were waiting exactly where they said, and we set off as a group of 10, with our guide Val, on time. She... More

Lana was our guide and she gave us lots of interesting information about the city and its buildings as we walked around. The whole tour took about 2.5 hours but the pace was easy, although a short toilet stop would have been useful. Make sure you take water with you as there is no comfort stop during the tour
