It was... More

Lovely place, utterly huge and curiously devoid of books. The guys on security are the best. If you need any help head to the lower ground level and they can help to you out!

Purpose-built and looking a little forbidding from the outside, inside is a different story - the atmosphere is light and airy, there are different configurations of public spaces which are spacious and comfortable, and the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. For an introduction to the many riches... More

After our visit to the Parliament buildings (please refer to my review about the Parliament here posted earlier), we dropped by here for a short visit as it was near it's closing time (almost 4.30pm) at 5pm. The National Library is just a short walk from the Parliament. It was not crowded then. We do have a routine to visit... More

Even though we've lived in Wellington for near on 9 years, this was the first time we visited this museum (in fact we didn't even know it was there). The digital age stuff was great with the touch screens and the 3D printer, but the most interesting stuff was the "huge map book that takes 2 people to turn a... More

So many fantastic historical documentary heritage that you would be sorry not to visit. Excellent collections and amazing study spaces. Also the Turnbull Gallery on the 2nd Floor always has great exhibitions (usually better curated and fresher than those presented on the ground floor).
