Impressive water feature. There are plenty of viewing platforms and a large bridge over the river. Decent sized car park but try and get there early before the tour busses arrive!

I am surprised for an attraction like this - it is free. The Huka Falls is spectacular with its waves. Every scene was post card perfect really. Basically a photo here is a must do on any backpackers' list!

Beautiful water current and falls. The sheer force of the water and its turquoise colour are a sight to behold. We rarely stop for waterfalls anymore, because they are often small and not particularly pretty. But this one is definitely worth the stop and yay it is free. There is ample parking near the falls and multiple walking tracks. You... More

If travelling to Taupo, make sure you include Huka Falls on your viewing list. Entry is free and the falls are just beside the carpark, with plenty of viewing platforms for photo opportunities, plus the bridge goes right over the falls. 200,000 litres of water per second, rushes through the gap, so it's pretty spectacular.

Huka Falls can get a little crowded after the sluice gates are opened and it is good to watch the waters thundering away. There are numerous paths around the falls, and the one leading to it from Taupo is a fair trudge needing about an hour to complete one way. The trudge from the falls to craters of the moon... More

It is very interesting to see the power of the water. There are many vantage points and it is quite often possible to see people in motor rafts coming right up to the rapids. It is the narrowing of the river which gives the power. Some time ago a nearby hotel used the power for their electric power. There are... More

We decided to go for a bit of a drive and check out the falls... ended up spending a few hours there walking about and watching them...
