The shop is huge with an amazing range of products from honey-related goods to non-honey goods. There is also a cafe where you can get some excellent-tasting goodies. A section of the shop is dedicated to honey, but I was disappointed when I found out that they did not produce their own honey; everything they sold had been brought from... More

Hi there and thanks for your comments. Honey is sourced from all over NZ by many different individual beekeepers, and we - like most companies buy the honey from the beekeeper, pack it and sell it to our customers...! We source some of Nz's finest Honey and many of these varieties are not available in other shops...In essence - our... More

Didn't realize that most of the honey stores in NZ sell honey from all over the country and not honey just from the local area. This store had a wide variety of honey and the staff was knowledgeable about the various brands that they carried. If you are into honey, you may want to do your homework first. We visited... More

We love to stop at random road side attractions and noticed that the sign said free tastings. We were surprised to see a very large shop. We tried a few of the honey flavors and then noticed the mead tasting. We spent some time with the hostess who let us try many of the different types. We ended up leaving... More

Thank you for such an incredible review. It's so great to hear that you had an enjoyable time with our team, trying the different tastings within the shop. One of our biggest attractions are the bees which draw a lot of interest and questions. Our aim is to continue to grow the customer experience here, in the shop and being... More

If you are in the area and you are interested in NZ honey as well as some good quality beverages you might wanna visit. Only the prices might be pretty scary, but I knew that already.

Hi there Thanks so much for your review, we always appreciate customers/visitors taking the time to give us feedback. We aim to provide the largest selection on New Zealand honey and honey products under one roof, and part of this journey is to source Mono-floral honey which is a "single source" honey from a single plant type. Really enjoyed the taste testing of the mead and honeys. Products are a little expensive but, are a good quality. Friendly, helpful staff. Also some great stuff to see and learn about bees - would love to see them expand on this a bit more. Feel like this place is still in it's early stages.

We loved the service, and the fact you can try many honey flavors and honey liquors before buying. But the price tag is way too exorbitant for that service. You don't get any 250g of honey for less than $20 effectively. If you have the time and option to go elsewhere you can find way better priced stuff. If you... More

Hi there Thanks for your review and feedback. Our main goal is to offer a unique and friendly experience for all who visit. In regards to your comments around 250g honey, none of these honeys are over $20 so I'm a little confused as to your information and where it has come from. Even our liquid Manuka Honey is under... This is a neat place to visit if you're wanting to purchase something a little different as a souvenir. I was a little disappointed as I could only find one honey that was made locally - there may have been more but it was busy so I couldn't ask anyone. They have a tasting section which again I didn't get... More

We decided to go out for ice cream while in taupo and ended up at the honey hive!!! It is definitely worth the stop! Very informative, cool bee display for the kids and TASTE TESTERS!!! The peanut butter honey was AMAZING!!! Would've definitely bought some if we were in NZ a little longer, but were unsure about taking through customs.... More

They have a good selection of honey. It is also informative for kids to see the real bees and how the honey is made. The honey tasting was very good. The only problem was to chose which honey to buy!

Today is a wet day in Taupo. Visiting the Huka Honey Hive was a perfect activity for our family. Our young boys age 2 & 4 years had a lot of fun looking at the different displays and hives.
