Free activity & a great place to see the natural occurrence of thermal activity

This is free to visit and paths wind around the edge of the lake, down by the museum. You can see the natural thermal activity right at the lakes edge. Definitely worth a look

The area around the lake is really worth exploring. Sulphur Bay seems out of most oeople's way, but is a great place to wander and take in the weirdness of Rotorua. Likewise the area around the Anglican church, with its bubbling pools and lakeside cemetery. If you can, take the cruise on the Lakeland Queen and try the wine-tasting and... More

Very touristy town with lots of activities to do, places to eat, and things to see. People come to Rotorua to visit the natural hot springs, hot mud pools, and steaming geysers. You cannot mistake the smell of Sulphur when approaching the town. I visited in summer it was nice and warm, but I did not feel like going for... More

This is a really large and beautiful lake right in the center of Rotorua. The lake has a lot of activities like speed boats, para-sailing, and the like so you spend a nice relaxed day here with the family. We personally took a nice walk in the evening and just spent time kicking our feet in the lake water. Quality... More

Public access while in the CBD is easy and many attractions walked passed or through, like the Gardens, to see it. Flew right over it before landing so was great to get an idea of the size and also see Lake Rotoiti.

A combination of scenic lake, convenience water front walkway, floating and cruising restaurant, green lawn and benches, bunches tulips and flocks of swans, flea market at certain day, very close to city centre and eatery road, not too far from hotels and motels, and the Information Centre. What else ? Just simply a very good place. Enjoy.
