A truly wonderful attraction located about 20 minutes from Rotorua. Went early to see the 10:30 eruption of the Lady Knox geyser but were disappointed as it only went up 20 or so feet even after being "induced with powder" - we, along with 200 others, wondered if the rest of the park was similarly over-rated - but we weren't,... Worth a visit if in the area, many different pools and quite smelly but colourful and interesting at the same time. I think there is somewhere nearby that you can go and bathe in the pools as we saw people with bathing costumes on, but we didn't have time to explore further.

Reasonably priced. Great variety of volcanic effects. Very popular and it pays to get their early. Better than Lassen park in California. Geyser was spectacular. Sulfur and other salt ponds have bright colors and very photogenic.

Great walk, the colours of the lakes are only to be seen in person. The bubbling mud unique to only this area of new Zealand. Fun and fascinating.

Enjoyed visiting this active geothermal place. So many colors in one area! Be prepared to take a lot of pictures. Take a leisurely walk to see (and even smell) the sights, here the sounds of the bubbly mud pools. Cafe and gift shop also onsite.

Do not miss going to see the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland. It is truly a marvel to see and incredible that this is one of SO MANY natural thermal parks in New Zealand. The fact that you can get so up close and personal within this park is unbelievable. It took my breath away.

This attraction is well managed and organised. The highlight is the Lady Knox geyser but we found the Champagne Pool more intriguing and amazing. The trails are clearly marked and the information boards at each site are very helpful.

its an interesting place to visit. the markings were funny like devils bath, devils bed... and they have a geyser as well that erupts at 10:15 when we were there. Make sure to come there early. we arrive there at 0900 and avoided the crowds... nice place to take photos. i really enjoyed it. Make sure to reach the devils... More
