Saving grace for Napier
Jun 2021 • Couples
For us, Marine Parade is the saving grace for Napier. This is the third time we have been here for family events and we really want to love the city but the beauty of the spectacular Art Deco buildings in its centre is marred by the utterly tacky modern high street signage and big chain branding on the shopfronts. Marine Paade benefits from being largely unsullied by this although definitely time to put Te Reo signage on such landmarks as Pania of the Reef. Whanganui does its Art Deco centre so much better with lovely hand painted signs. Plenty of other cities worldwide make big brands toe the line on the look of their shopfronts in heritage areas - it would be good to see Napier city council doing the same and lifting the look and feel of the city to what it could be.

Lovely spot

Take a morning walk every day you can. Grab a hotel in Napier South, and everything is within walking distance

Great walkway
Apr 2021
We walked and longboard skated along the paved walkway and loved it, it was so nice and smooth and goes for a long way. We didn't get to the whole thing! It was very busy at times but people are mostly polite and friendly.

Great for a Wander
Dec 2020 • Couples
We enjoyed wandering down and seeing the sights; such as the Sunken Garden, Pania on the Reef and the Pier.

Definately worth a visit.

Scenic walk
Feb 2021
A walk along the promenade at the beachfront gives you a panoramic view of the sea and there are beautiful flower beds with colourful yellow, orange , red and pink blooms. Very tidy garden and so pretty in February..

Great area

A great walk along the waterfront with the water on one side & gardens on the other in many spots. Easy walking or biking.

A long walk, but worth it. Napier's water front is exceptional.

Walked along the provided paths, having stepped on to the shingle beach once or twice we decided the footpaths provided better traction with far less effort required to achieve forward motion.

Great Shared Pathway
Feb 2021
Marine Parade is great place to walk or cycle along. We cycled from the Aquarium to Spriggs Park. There was a lot to see/do along the way such as road safety park, water fountains, sunken gardens, port, playgrounds, pier etc. It is a great smooth shared pathway for all. It is quite wide along the main part (Aquarium to Pier) and is more like regular footpath width around the port (although not so busy there).

Love this stroll
Jan 2021 • Couples
Walking along the Parade with our dog on leash was very enjoyable. The families, the gardens, the smells of flowers and food, the bikes and skaters, people loving the water fountains to run through - we played mini golf and ate THE best locally made ice cream. Thanks for a great day.
