We went there especially to see the kiwi birds! Yes there were two of them that we we saw, adorable! And we love the penguins too, went there when they had feeding time. A not too big local aquarium, neat and cute!

The national aquarium is a nice hour or 2 for kids (and adults) to enjoy and learn about marine life. My 2 children (6 and 4) loved their time here. It is pretty small and we were finished in just over an hour, so comparing...More

We really like the National Aquarium. There’s plenty to see and the Oceanarium keeps the kids entertained over and over. I think it’s quite reasonably priced too. It’s not as big as another NZ aquarium which people probably compare it to, but the entry price...More

The kids thoroughly enjoyed their time at the Aquarium they loved going around on the translator looking at all the fishies. The Penguins were also a bit aswell as the touching tanks. And photo opportunities around the place.

Way too small enclosures for all animals, tired displays, much outdated exhibition. We expected much more from a NATIONAL museum and for $20 fee. Definitely not worth a visit as there are many much better options.

Not quite like Kelly Tauton's in Auckland but it still had a reasonable amount of sealife to see. Staff at the front counter and at the cafe weren't that particularly friendly that day we visited - got the job done and that's it and it...More

I so wanted this place to be awesome given that its the country's NATIONAL aquarium, but it was so small and ordinary that I was really disappointed after paying $20 to enter. I was anticipating some kind of tropical fish, but it was pretty much...More

Hi, we had no problems with size, group ranging from 110kgs to 80kgs. Very accommodating instructor ensuring we were comfortable and well briefed. Take a camera for some great close ups of the sharks. Enjoy!
