Just recently visited the free sites in the museum. Christchurch Earthquake photography exhibition and WW1 exhibition related to the Waikato was very touching. Great display for Matariki and a light show & story telling of how light came to be on earth. The museum overlooks the great Waikato river.

It is a small museum but i well worth a visit if you find yourself in the Tron on a wet day. it has some cool Maori exhibits and a very interesting selection of photographs documenting the Christchurch earthquake and aid efforts.

Have been often to this facility, most recently to a free recital by top musicians. With art and history well represented by changing exhibitions it is an excellent introduction to the Waikato region. The recently restored wake is superb. Something of interest for all age groups.

Our children loved the science room; bendy mirrors, cogs, gardening, conveyor belts, giant lego building, race cars... We all had a great time here. Good rainy day activity. If your children like a quiet environment, it may be worth phoning ahead to check if any school groups will be visiting too. Also, a bit of shame that there is no... More

Free entry to the Museum & great exhibitions. Stroller & Wheelchair accessible. You can even borrow a stroller for free. Downstairs has two exhibitions for kids with tactile objects (entry fee about 5 NZD for an adult)

New Fonterra exibition and new Light and planet experience. Extra charges but well worth a visit. Perfect for small children to rush around but great for older children and adults.

Interesting place to visit rain or shine, to learn about New Zealand Culture. And certain times of the year they have set exhibitions. Good place to take children. Wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Small cost to enter exhibitions, and was a good coin donation last time we visited. Perfect for school holidays

Had some good displays and was a nice place to fill in some time on a rainy day. We only looked in the areas that were free, there were two other displays on at the time that were interactive and you could pay to see. Was interesting Bob Marley section that is there for a short period.
