I first visited the Auckland Domain during the Lantern Festival and was amazed at how clean, neat and tidy the park was. Entrance was free, there are lots of trees under which to sit and reflect or picnic. Go for a walk under the trees on a sunny afternoon.

We'd come to see the museum but a short walk into the park was definitely worth our time. This is a large park and botanical garden in a dormant volcano, It has so many walking ares and features you could spend a day here. The only downside for me as a stranger is there is not enough information on the park walks.

Went and visited domain gardens and hot house - excellent. Also went to the forest part and saw two native owls asleep. Very hot in the hot houses but the flowers are beautiful

Here lay what remains of the tall trees that must have inhabited the area before the British landed.
