The museum is filled with great information and it was surprisingly very interactive and sucks you into the history so that you're not just reading it but sometimes actually experiencing it. The maori experience was also quite fun and insightful.

Amazing photos from all around the world. If a New Zealander get in free. If from overseas $25 entry to the museum. The rest of the museum is worth a visit too.

Our tour guide in the museum was very informative and pointed out highlights that gave us an education on the history of New Zealand.

But expensive as a visitor from out of Auckland and out of NZ....the exhibits were amazing, and the gift shop was not over priced. The cafe was pretty good, with a variety of options, not too badly priced but not cheap lunch either.

Great collection! We especially liked the Maori section of the museum. The large canoe and the Maori house were incredible to see!

They cover about everything in this museum. We didn't have time to see everything. They have a temporary display of photographs taken by youth. We enjoyed this so much we ran out of time to see all of the museum.

We lucked out, as we caught the afternoon Maori cultural presentation by the wonderful cast that provides the public with song, dance and interpretation. We followed this with a tour of the Maori artifacts and history. The museum has a comprehensive and excellent display of...More

Chilly chilly chilly! You should be prepared for cool weather/ fine but cold and rain. Bring layers and warm shoes/boots. You could experience beautiful sunny but cool days. Sometimes its also a matter of comparison: if you... More
