I asked some art-related things to curators. They were so friendly and professional. I could obtain useful academic knowledge about works displayed here.

This gallery focuses mainly on modern art, but also has many older pieces by prominent artists. While I'm not a big fan of modern art, I appreciated how thorough the gallery was in describing the history and meaning of the pieces.

We visit the gallery once or twice a year. This time was to see The Body Laid Bare. It was excellent and consistent with the quality Auckland Art Gallery is famous for. A treasure for Auckland, and NZ

There is a gallery of older style paintings that you see in English art galleries but generally focuses on modern and Maori art

The museum has a wider collection - many rare "historical/heritage" works of art pertaining to New Zealand
