Good challenge, nice workout if you have couple hours to spare during the weekend. Can be challenging for first timer. Lots of motivation labels on the way to help you reach the summit. Not far from Hamilton Worth a visit.

This was our first time and it was awesome . We started from the waterworks and went from there . A very popular track and most people were very courteous . Track is well maintained and despite recent rain wasn't too muddy . It took us just under 2 hours , I was carrying my toddler on my back .... More

This walk was fabulous - very hard work, though. The walk to the summit from Brownlee Ave in Ngaruawahia has 1349 steps! It is not for the faint-hearted. Both my husband and I loved it. If you are not used to walking a lot of steps/steep walks, then make sure you stretch well afterwards, because you're likely to have sore... More

I love this track, no mater how many times I go up its always a challenge. Go anytime before 9.30am and it'll be a nice and usually quite walk as it tends to get quite busy between 10am-3pm summer and winter. It can take anywhere from 30-60mins to get to the summit depending on fitness level.

At the Hakarimata Scenic Reserve, a number of different walks are available. They range from short (< 1 hour) and easy to long (> 7 hours) and difficult. I did the Hakarimata Summit Track, which takes about 3 hours in total according to the description. At average walking speed, I'd say it can easily be done at least 30min faster... More

The bush is very nice, the view on top can be fantastic. You can do it the easy way, slowly and looking around you or like many other people who do a kind of workout. It is a steep path with many many steps. Not everybody gets to the top !
