Completed in 1870, this delightful Victorian Gothic landmark was completely restored in 2005. It is the only convict-built capital city town hall in Australia, and a fragment of the original convict roll is on permanent display in the foyer with other City of Perth memorabilia. Generally open 11:00AM-1:00PM weekdays, but phone 08 9229 2965 first because it is sometimes closed for private functions. Free historic tour every Thursday at 2:00PM.

We only looked at the town hall from the outside , but passed it several times. Lots of interesting historical plaques, and amazing to think , with its outstanding architectural features, polychrome brickwork and arched arcades that this was built with convict labour. An amazing example of the skills of our convict ancestors.

As a Perth local I really enjoyed this evening walking tour. Our guide, Ryan, was very knowledgable about all places visited, and also showed us hidden venues down historic laneways that we had never seen before. Ryan also provided many tips for the overseas visitors about what else to see and do, and how to get around. We finished the... More

The Town Hall had an exhibition of Australian plants and animals when I visited (a live show, in every sense of the word!) Entry was free and it was fascinating. Other attractions will happen at different times. Find out what's on show before you go, or just take your chances as you walk through the city.

At first, I thought this place is a church until I read on my travel book guide. I love the contrast between brick colour and white colour. Sometime there are some event like animal exhibition.

For many years, Western Australia (WA) was known as "the land of sin, sun, sand and sore eyes." Nothing much was going on, so the people of WA asked for some convicts to boost growth. Amongst the things the convicts built was the Perth Town Hall. You can see the broad arrows that denote Government property on the Town Hall,... More

The old Perth Town hall is nicely lit up at night - great to be part of an after dark walk admiring all the "Winter Lights" in the Central Business District.

Scenic location to see the Perth Town Hall, functions and tours available. Also, the comedy festival is being hosted here which is a one of the best recent events in the city of Perth.
