I'm surprised Barracks Arch isn't rated higher on Trip Advisor as it's one of my favourite places. It's a great view heading west on St George's Terrace to see Barracks Arch at the top of the hill, and it's a great piece of Perth history....More

The arch is all that's left of the old barracks when it was demolished to make way for the motorway. The arch was also going to be demolished probably for political reasons as it obstructed the views from parliament on the hill behind. However, a...More

Amazing how it's just standing there on the road. Probably not worth an extra trip, but stop if you're passing.

Good to have a close up look of this famous landmark. The stories it could tell of what has changed here over the last 100 years! So glad it was kept when so many torn down.

I love Barracks Arch - although it wouldn't be for you if you're not interested in historic buildings. It's a beautiful arch at the western end of St. George's Terrace, and if you want to find out the history of the arch, read the plaque...More

Many people don't realise that this monument Arch was once the opening to the Army Barracks situated on what is now the Freeway. Get close and look for photos - you'll be amazed at how big these barracks once were.
