Well worth a visit and walk around through botanic gardens area too. The views over the river and city were fabulous. We caught one of the free local Cat buses so easy to access

Lovely gardens so well maintained. The War Memorial is impressive and great for photos with Perth CBD in the background.

A must do in Perth. Walking around the whole park takes about 2h through soft or hard terrain bush land. You will see giant eucalyptus trees, some small fauna. Great views of Perth and the Swann river. The Botanical gardens is small but worth a stroll.

I spent a morning in the park. It's huge, 3 times the size of Monaco! The different areas were well marked with interpretative signs. Paths are well maintained and the place is a must see

A lot of buses, including the free CATs, will bring you right into the heart of Kings Park and Botanic Garden. A nice place to spend a few hours in the afternoon strolling through the park - the nicest views are at Lotterywest Federation Walkway!

Beautiful gardens and ANZAC Memorial . The upkeep is fabulous. Picnics are welcomed . Walking through the gardens, they are relaxing and I learnt a lot about Australian Natives with all the plaques at the gardens.

The gardens are easy to access on a number of the free Perth buses and once there at the top of town, the views over Perth and the river system are spectacular. It’s reasonably flat, there are wide, well surfaced paths, good signposting and plenty of viewpoints, seating and shelters from the sun or rain. There’s also a café, a takeaway and guided walks around the gardens plus lots of beautiful sculptures. Definitely a must do when visiting Perth.

Great walks an oustanding views over the city. Botanic Gardens have a fantastic wildfower collection. Avoid the cafes near the main entrance, expensive and below average food.

With its commanding view of the Perth CBD and the Swan River, its marvellous plants and pathways, this is a wonderful place to take tourists to Perth. It's a great place to just wander around and be surprised, and with its several restaurants, a good place to have lunch. (See separate review of The Botanical Café)
Parking is usually available, and the park is also accessible by bus.

Hi, I thought I read somewhere that near Kings Park was a smaller park with a fantastic bamboo alley. Am i right in thinking it was in Kings Park, Perth?

Japan is the place to see bamboo. Not sure the climate is quite right in Perth. If a park as you describe does exist, it is very well hidden and unsigned.

Is there any best restaurant?

If you are still in Perth, I'd recommend paying a visit to the "Friends Restaurant". You don't just pay for the food, but also the experience. Have a look at the restaurant's reviews and their menu and decide for yourself if the cuisine suits your tastes first though! May not be for everyone :)

Made a mistake on my review for this place. I said that we had climbed the DNA Tower. In fact this tower is in Yancheng National Park and not in Kings Park. Sorry.

Sorry again; I was right in the first place, DNA Tower is in Kings Park.

Visiting Perth on a cruise ship early April. What can I expect to see blooming in the Botanical gardens at King’s Park that time of year. Also the distance from the cruise port to the city centre. Thank you.

Hi, April is the start to our winter so there will be little in bloom at that time of the year as far as native plants go. Our Spring and wild flower season starts in September. There are river cruises available on the swan river and if the day is nice it is beautiful. Strangely enough when I was a young woman I worked on that cruise and we used to do a commentary on the down stream leg. The company is called Captain Cook Cruises and worth an investigation. They used to give one way upstream trips.
Fremantle, where you will dock is unique to Perth which is metropolitan and has a different feel. Much more laid back. you will already be in the harbour where there is a fabulous new Maritime Museum which will give lots of history and there is also an old Prison within walking distance. Recommended This will give you an incite into Bushrangers and prison immigrants that colonised West Australia. The offer tours with some of them being underground where you can paddle in canoes. There is some ladder climbing involved.
The train will take you to the heart of Perth and just outside the station there are Free cat busses each one taking you to a different area. This is a shopping district with many skyscrapers that house large mining companies. It is still a beautiful city. At the station entrance there is a help centre and you are able to hire lockers.
Enjoy your stay :)
